Pinkel: "We have high standards related to the expectations that come along with being a Missouri Tiger & Dorial has not met those recently. It’s unfortunate, but it’s the right thing to do for our football program, for the athletic department, and also for Dorial. These actions aren’t representative of those expectations, and we are addressing these issues head on."

Waste of talent for sure. Word is that he assaulted a female on campus. To what degree and if true are the questions but it has been stated that it is not for the prior regarding possession. Apparently serious enough that Pinkel wasted no time this time around.

I heard it was pretty bad..... but source isnt that reliable

Wow, what a badass, 6'5 - 225 lbs. and assaulting a young girl. Boot his ass and force him to rely on his education up to this point in life. I think we all know ole boy would be flipping burgers and dumping fries under a heat lamp. Start sending messages to these assholes that this higher than mighty personality will not be accepted. They'll all find out reeeeeeeeeal quick that this gig is worth more than they ever thought and that their opportunity is much more than most of us will ever see. I can't stand a waste of talent and utter disrespect for others in society.

After those two posts yesterday I jumped over to a Mizzou forum to see what they were saying. I saw a half of a dozen post suggesting it was a domestic violence situation.

This morning, after reading your post, I went back and found this BR write-up linked that mirrors those early reports. NOW...the BR article is citing themaneater.com (irony?) which I've never heard of until this morning.

My lack of knowledge about that site set aside, details like this tend to diminish my doubts on the story's veracity.

After star Missouri receiver Dorial Green-Beckham was suspended indefinitely from the football team for a violation of team policies, new details emerged Monday night that implicate the sophomore in a physical altercation early Sunday morning.

Sophomore roommates at Brookside Townhomes Mike Henke and Chris Connor were watching Netflix when they heard yelling outside around 2 a.m. They ran to the street from their unit and a frantic neighbor told them to call 911.

ā€œHe said some guy was hitting a girl,ā€ Connor said.

Another Brookside resident, who declined to be named, told The Maneater that Green-Beckham was involved in a fight at her apartment this weekend but chose not to comment further.

After the altercation, Henke said he ran back into his house to call the police. Outside, Connor said the neighbor who asked him to call 911 told someone else that Green-Beckham was beating up a girl.

Connor said a girl then started banging on a white Dodge Charger and screaming while a man yelled at her from the car as it was driving away. Connor said five to 10 people were outside watching the incident.

A few thoughts:

• If there's ever a situation where judgment is best left alone it's domestic violence situations.

• "He needs the the football program more than the football program needs him." How often have we heard that statement? It seems to apply here; DGB (Don't Get Busted?) certainly needs structure in his life but when is enough, enough?

• A white Dodge Charger? How long before Auburnites blame the REC? :sarca:

Someone at work says they've dismissed him from the team.

He's gone.

The Missouri athletic department has announced suspended wide receiver Dorial Green-Beckham has been dismissed from the program.

Gary Pinkel and athletic director Mike Alden made the decision together.

ā€œThis decision was made with the best interests of all involved in mind,ā€ Gary Pinkel said in the statement. ā€œDorial’s priority going forward needs to be focusing on getting the help he needs. As we have all along, we will continue to do everything we can to assist Dorial and his family. We care deeply about Dorial and his well-being, but hopefully he can benefit from a fresh start.ā€

ā€œWe have a high standard of conduct for our student-athletes,ā€ Mike Alden said in a statement.

Though we provide the resources and mentoring to all of our student-athletes, we are also responsible to the community at large and to the ideals and values of the University of Missouri. We have determined that this was a necessary step for our football team, athletic department, the University and our community.ā€

Earlier today, Green-Beckham released a statement, taking responsibility for his mistakes, and he said he would enter counseling. DGB was indefinitely suspended from the team on Monday for a violation of team rules, and the Columbia Police released a statement yesterday that said he would not be arrested for an incident that happened early Sunday morning, although the details were very concerning.

DGB was arrested on January 11 for suspicion of felony drug activity. He’s maintained his innocence after the arrest, and he and his family said they are confident he won’t be charged. That was the second time DGB had a run in with the law at Mizzou, as the first time was a 2012 arrest on a marijuana charge.

Green-Beckham was a second-team All-SEC receiver who caught 59 passes for 883 yards and 12 touchdowns in his 2013 breakout season. Missouri had 31 receiving touchdowns last season. Twenty seven of those are now gone with departing players.

Makes you sick seeing wasted opportunities. Especially wasted opportunities at doing something you love. This is exactly what needed to happen to show this kid he isn't any more special than any other human being out there, and maybe it'll help some other player from doing something idiotic.

Think Petrino has repaired his reputation among coaches?
