🏈 Orrin Hatch wants Boise State to visit White House with national champ Alabama

I would like all the people out there that think Boise State, deserves to be part of the national Championship discussion to look no further than comments from their coach and team. I believe immediately after the game, during the interviews their coach and team said that they didn't think they were the #1 team. They were all quite humble and seemed to like the fact that they were included in the discussion, but none of them made any claim that they deserved to be in the BCS game, or that they thought they were the best team out there. All of this b.s. is coming from outside their program.

For the folks who want them to up their game, Boise will be playing Virginia Tech and Oregon State next year. The VT game will be at VT and most likely be played at FedEx field in DC. Also that excerpt from the blog about them toughening up their schedule shows a good deal of ignorance. It was well publicized this year that they are seeking any big time opponent that will take them, usually offering one-off road games. So far not many takers.

Also look for BSU to get an offer to join the Mountain West this year. This has also been fairly well publicized, with their record and BCS bowl appearances, if they join up with the Mountain West, when the next BCS review takes place, they will have enough of the mandates fulfilled that they will get automatic qualifier status. Honestly a conference with Utah, BSU, TCU and BYU is at least as good as the Big East.

BSU deserves a lot of credit for what they have done with their program and I find them to be intriguing, but when they don't agree with the claims that they are champions, how can these other fools like Hatch even consider the argument?

They talk a big game about being willing to play anybody anywhere, but when pressed earlier in the season about how many they have actually pursued actively the answer was about 2 or 3. If they really wanted to go over that stigma they could have been burning up the phone lines more instead of waiting for someone to come to them.

Boise, BYU, TCU, Utah, etc. -- they may beat a BCS team in a bowl game with anywhere from 25 to 30 days to prepare for that team. I say let them play a SEC or Big-12 schedule for a full year with the usual 6 days to prepare for each team -- I can almost guarantee that they would not be undefeated.

Tell Sen. Hatch that there are more important issues going on today in this country.

P.S. Hell No, BSU does not deserve a trip to the White House -- THEY DID NOT WIN THE BCS NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHP!!!!!

Why does the prep time matter? Last I checked, the SEC or Big-12 teams that play non-BCS opponents get the same 20-25 days to prepare.

A question that is only of academic interest now:

Go back to the Big 12 Championship Game, in the waning seconds. Let the review of McCoy's pass attempt show that the clock truly had run out, and Nebraska had won the game. Who would have been in the BCS Championship Game then against us. Cincy? TCU? Boise?

I don't think it is the prep time they are referring to so much as the week by week attrition that SEC and Big 12 schools face each week.

As far as the BCS goes, right now the Mountain West is at least as qualified for an automatic bid as either the ACC or the Big East.

Put anyone of those teams in place of say Vandy and let them play an SEC schedule week in and week out. They wont be undefeated. I dont care if they beat Oklahoma and Alabama in bowl games. How about the one they always conveniently leave out. What happened to Hawaii when they faced UGA? That's right the Dawgs pounded them. But no one ever mentions that game in these arguments.

Look at the records of these conferences overall this year.

WAC
5 of 9 teams finished with a losing record.
None of them rank in the top 50 in Strength of Schedule
The highest SOS is San Jose St with a 68 (Boise State 96th):lance:
SOS 96,89,84,95,91,74,77,94,68

MWest
4 of the 9 teams finished with losing records.
None of them rank in the top 50 in Strength of Schedule.
The highest SOS is New Mexico with a 55 (TCU 60th)
SOS 60,61,75,79,56,70,69,55,67

SEC
2 of 12 teams finish with a losing record (Vandy & Miss St)
All 12 teams rank in the top 50 in SOS, (9 in the top-20)
The highest SOS is Miss State in 1st (Alabama 2nd)
SOS 15,7,21,35,4,20,2,5,46,12,17,1

Sure any team can beat any team on any given day. That's some of the fun of bowl games in my opinion. I just dont see these teams competing in the SEC week in and week out. Guess we'll never know. So sorry, Boise State can stay home if the Tide goes to the White House.
