🏈 Orgeron presented his vision and said beating Alabama was the “benchmark” for his job. On the recruiting trail and on the field, that largely did not

Ask ole mississippi fans what the thought of him....he didnt suddenly become a genius

i think the problem is, he's not really a head coach. he's probably ok as a position coach, or a cheerleader, but that's about it. He relies on assistants to do all of the coaching, and his biggest problem is that he can't really evaluate talent, player or coach-wise. He struck lightning in a bottle with Joe Burrow and Joe Brady... that or he tripped over them. Either way, if BOTH of those guys weren't there at the same time, ole eddy boy probably wouldn't have survived this long.

His "contacts" in Louisiana helped him land Brady; a good hire.

Burrow was headed to Tennessee under Schiano until Clay Travis blew that up. His second choice was Nebraska (family alum) where Frost told him they didn't need a Quarterback (we see how that worked out.)

That is so precious to say. I am sure everyone has that vision but can you execute on it? So who is the failure here, Orgeron or the people that bought into this vision as if it was achievable?
So much truth in your assessment.

Coach Saban is so good because he learned under other good coaches. He paid attention to them, became a student of the game, took what he learned and applied it, Now he's a teacher professor.

A lot of the current coaches haven't been coaching that long and are still learning. But a lot of people, nowadays, are impatient and aren't willing to let things work (i.e., Auburn). They also make dumb-ass decisions in the heat of the moment. Like when your coach wins a conference or national championship; you don't just offer them an extended contract worth almost as much as their current contract. You offer to talk to them to renegotiate and then see what happens in the following 2 to 3 years. LSU was looking for the quick payoff. They won a small jackpot in 2019, but then bet it all and lost it all. However, their last 3 coaches have all won national championships.

I hate that college football has become so money driven. I understand results matter and all that and he did just get them a NC (w/o Saban recruited talent) and there’s nobody that loves Louisiana or LSU more than Coach Ogre, he loves it so much if you cut his arm off corndogs, tigers, purple, gold, and jambalaya would flow out, they’re not going to find somebody as committed to them as Ogre

I agree with you, but to me it's covering up rape and the comments he made to his own player about Guice and what he did to her and wasn't even spoken to because he was a star. The winning is what is spoke about, but being a horrible human is not being discussd and added to the equation. He belongs in exile with Briles.

Agree with this. Not exactly a great analogy but as a fan Updyke loves Bama but is well crazy and has moral issues. Same with Oger. I wish they would have kept him forever because he does not have the brain cells or core moral values to sustain excellence.

I hadn’t paid attention to anything down there, I wasn’t aware that he covered up rape

He is a piece of work for sure. When I first saw him at Ole Miss his schtick was funny, and his rah rah act cracked me up. Later I learned he was a classless POS, that would put right and wrong aside. The whole thing stinks of rotten corn dogs and some in the Administration seemed to go right along with him.

This article if true is disturbing that the coach o did not do anything. A mindset like that needs to go. Well he is gone
Given $16M to be gone. That is really messed up and well just wrong but people are willing to pay it smh. The Barn paid coaches $31M to leave. When do these high rolling boosters say no to stupid stuff? Maybe never since it gives them access and a feeling of power I guess.
