Hey guys, it's been a while but I have a little more time on my hands and hopefully I'll be able to do more than lurk.
The mature level-headed adult side of me finds this act disgraceful. This side knows that no matter what was said, the Oregon player should have handled himself with class and walked away. This side feels sorry for the Oregon coach who now has this needless distraction to deal with. This side would be ashamed if it were his son that acted in such an unsportsmanlike way.
However, there is a chamber deep within my psyche that houses my inner teenager. The teenager that spent most of his time roaming the mountains of Jackson County with his hillbilly friends causing trouble and howling at the moon. I'm embarrassed to admit, but it's things like this that cause him to burst free of that chamber and run to the front of my brain screaming,"
Hell yeah, Son. Get some!!!!"
I know, I know it's terrible and I'm looking into various programs to enter for help with my immaturity issues. Still, the "
Mommy the big man hit me" look on the Boise State player's face before he went down almost made orange juice come out of my nose. Pray for my wife and daughter; they have to live with me.
Actually this could end up being a positive thing. The NCAA could use the film as a teaching tool for incoming Freshmen players to enforce proper conduct on the field.
Rule #1 : If you're going to talk smack;Leave the helmet on!!!!!
I do have one comment on what happened as the Oregon player was entering the tunnel:
There should be a clause in the NCAA rulebook that allows any player 30 seconds to respond to any body paint covered 125lb fan who feels the need taunt said player while there is a railing and security force between them. This response will take place in a cage built in every locker room and will follow UFC guidelines. If the NCAA does not enact this rule or one similar, then Darwin was just wasting his breath with the whole Natural Selection thing.
Whew, I feel better now that I've confessed. I ask that you keep me in your hearts as I struggle to find my ever-elusive maturity. It's good to be back, and I think it's gonna be a good season.
Roll Tide!!!
