Is this going to be a game where Dabo is judged on his coaching ability? It's a good judgment on where he's gotten their program, right?

Think back to 2008 and where this team was a program.

Are you talking about the BCS game in 2008 when we got whipped early and often by Utah, or the Clemson game to open the season? I enjoyed the Clemson game in the dome but yeah, the bowl game was a due. Started when Andre got himself booted well before the game. Went downhill from there. Hopefully we have more integrity and desire now. Sure didn't show it last night though.

I have no desire to watch that game and I have a very eerie feeling that feels like 2008 that the team wont have any desire to play it...

Talking bout the Sugar Bowl yeah, I love games like the ass beating in the dome.

I don't think we'll ever see another "Utah game." The players have bought into the process now and the seniors won't let the team do anything but send them out winners with the stage set for 2014. It will be a beat-down.

That's not far fetched at all. Pretty reasonable to think we could experience something like that. Not sure who we will play, but more than likely, they will give Alabama their best game just so they can also say they beat Alabama. After a devastating loss like this and a big lay out, it could happen. Now I do think with it being Mosley and AJ's last game, it won't, but its not far fetched to think a let down could happen. Sorry to offend anyone with this, but f*ck you Auburn.

0-5 versus the Coots.

You're on the right track here (as some of the others derail...which I'm about to add to.)

Is it too far fetched for me to draw a comparison to Bill Curry when talking about Dabo? Curry couldn't beat Auburn, Dabo has a losing streak to UofSC. In 1989 the Curry coached Tide won the SEC. In 2011 Clemson wins the ACC.

Dabo took over the program full-time in 2009 which has given him five years to build Clemson to what it is today.

What's going to be the feeling among Clemson fans if the Tigers are beaten as badly in the bowl game this year as they were in Bowden's last season?

What I'm more curious about is this. Let's say Clemson plays Bama toe-to-toe. All of the fans who say "Dabo isn't ready for prime-time;" will they be criticizing him to the same degree? Will the crowd that feels he'd be a good fit at the Capstone in a few years grow larger?

Bird, you have a tendency to have an eerie feeling about a lot of things. That's no dig at you. Your concerns aren't something you've pulled out of thin air: they're possible.

In this case trying to draw a comparison between the Sugar Bowl in 2008 vs a bowl game now...can't say you can make that comparison because to two cultures with both teams are in such stark contrast.

(FWIW, it's my opinion that the loss of Andre' wasn't what hurt the team as much as it was the early injury to Mike Johnson couple with Andre's suspension...losing the entire left side of the starting offensive line isn't something a lot of team could deal with. We could go further here...better left for another thread I suspect.)

I see more 2010 than 2008 in this team, and a probable bowl outcome. The 2008 team was far less talented than any team since. They initially overachieved, ran out of gas, and had a contingent of players who had not done what was necessary (mentally and physically) to be part of a complete, resilient team. This year's team is more akin to the 2010 team, angry and embarrassed they played poorly in a big game. I believe they will take it out on their bowl opponent, and use it as fuel for next season.

Tim

Never beating your arch rival will have a giant monkey on your back, but this doesn't change the fact that Clemson is on one of their best runs in their programs history. From what I'm seeing on their message boards, they seem to be happy where the program is, but they want more. This seemed to be the year to do it all for them and they choked vs FSU and @ USC. I'm not really sure how to judge him though. He's had great wins, then he's had terrible losses.

I'm an eternal optimist. While this loss to Auburn is tough, we lost to a well coached decent team. We were gonna lose sometime and the dramatic fashion albeit painful could have been worse. (Ex Utah or worse to FL 35-0 etc). Now... My hope is the character of this dynasty will sustain and play Bama ball in our bowl. I personally hope we get someone other than Clemson. They suck... the bigger the stage, the bigger they lose... always. Roll Tide and solidarity!
