Verne: He can't even get the players names correct.
Beth: She doesn't make those mistakes.
Gary: He can't let a subject go like Devin White and the "11th man."
Beth: She doesn't harp on subjects--simply covers the game.
How many times have you seen, or heard, the commentators make mistakes during their broadcasts and it grated on your nerves? Now, ask yourself, how many times have you seen Beth make the same mistakes?
SEC Network:
Beth Mowins > Tom Hart and Taylor Zarzour. Dave Neal I'd put higher due to how long he's been around SEC football.
ABC/ESPN/ESPN2:
Beth Mowins > Mark Jones, Adam Amin, Dave Pasch, Bob Wischusen, and Jason Benetti. Do you like Anish? I'd put him equal with Beth though he gets caught up in trying to show too much excitement. Beth doesn't do that. Hell, there's only two guys we can say are better from those Saturday crews: Levy and Patrick.
ESPN Primetime crews:
Beth Mowins > Adam Amin, Erick Clemons, or Dave Fleming.
What about Saturday nights? You want to hear the outlandish, and improvised "excitement" of Tess or a calm, evenly called game by Mowins? Again, Mowins > Tess.
Who's better?
Fowler, Neal, Patrick, Amin, and possibly Anish?
CBS: Beth is hands down better than Ness on game prep alone.
You don't like her voice? I get that. I'm reminded of a pastor in my area that has a pretty good church to attend--IF you can get past the way he speaks (Pentecostal twang he uses to avoid a stuttering problem.)
I don't see any evidence that leads me to even consider she's bad at her job. That performance is better than 90% of the on-air talent at ESPN.
**Even if she was horrible, her allegiance and the coverage she's given to the WSB program at UA gives her a hall pass to start.**
