On3 is reporting Rojas has now entered the portal.

Alabama forward James Rojas has entered the NCAA transfer portal, On3’s Matt Zenitz has learned. A senior for the Crimson Tide this past season, Rojas has one year of eligibility remaining.

The 6-foot-8, 220-pound forward is the seventh member of Alabama basketball to enter the transfer portal this offseason, and one of five scholarship players. Other key players who have decided to transfer include Juwan Gary, Jusaun Holt and Jaden Quinerly.

Rojas joined the Crimson Tide in the 2019-20 season as a JUCO transfer from Hutchinson Community College in Kansas. He sat out that first season with a medical redshirt before going on to play 30 games for Alabama in 2020-21. In two full seasons and 47 games in Tuscaloosa, he averaged 3.8 points and 2.5 rebounds across 12 minutes per game.

To be fair, we only had 3 guys average double digit PPG, and 2 have already announced their heading to the draft. The 3rd had all but said it was his last game going in to the NCAA tourney before getting hurt. So there’s no one left scoring double digits to leave.

If you account for graduates, those transferring and those attempting to enter the League, were down to what, 19 PPG returning? Unless JQ comes back and is ready to go. That’s Miles, Gurley, and Bediako returning, that we know of. We should be right up there with Duke on replacing lost scoring. The 5-star guys coming in will get their chance to shine.
