One thing I disagree with is the DL. There is only one DL on the Miss squad that I would trade one of ours for...I also think that our wideouts are much more talented. They have had some issues, but they have a higher potential - we have more "Sunday Potential." I would not trade them either. Special teams I don't know what to make of. We are improving, but still...
Wideouts.
I see the advantage to Ole Miss in terms of numbers.
We are getting good results out of Julio and the Rebs are getting good results out of McCluster. So, you can call that a wash.
The thing is Ole Miss has two more guys that are playing in their rotation that are equal threats in Hodge and Wallace. We counter with Mike McCoy, and we don't know if he's going to be 100% when Saturday comes around.
It's a 3 man to 2 man advantage. Their WR's are good enough where teams can't just stack the box against the run and hope those guys can't handle man coverage all day, because they can and will beat our guys in man coverage a few times Saturday. I just don't see a way around that happening.
DL...
We are starting to get some pressure on the QB at times this year but a lot of that is coming from Anders and Upshaw, not our front 3. When I looked at both DL's, what I see in Ole Miss' favor is across the board they are pretty even in terms of talent and the ability to get back into the pocket.
It's something we haven't been able to do this season consistently. If Hardy does play, he's good for some game changing moments but he isn't going to be "that guy" for 4 quarters. At least he hasn't shown that he can do that so far in his career.
Deaderick and Greenwood both have been solid as has Cody. The advantage I see here is Hardy is taking up double teams from the end which has allowed their tackles to get pressure frequently. And, that isn't even mentioning Tillman who does a good job from the opposite side of the line as well.
Both lines are good against the run. Ours coming from the scheme of our LB'ers taking the lanes. Their's coming from their lineman taking the lanes.
It's a slight advantage on both units...but, it comes down to #'s in both cases with Ole Miss having a man or two advantage in both cases.
