Just a wee spot of opinion needed.

I'm booking my "one" Bama game for this season, and taking into consideration cost-effective airline costs (from Canada), motel costs, nice weather temps, and Home/Away fan numbers, I've narrowed it down to either Ole Miss (Sept 29) or Texas A&M (Nov 10). Both clock in as the most overall affordable (cheapest....:untroubled:) options and with decent climate conditions.

If you had to recommend one, which would it be?

Cost wise, Ole Miss.

Like grad93 says, game wise, A&M. They've only played in Alabama one time, that in Birmingham. (never played Auburn)

If you have the choice, A&M, although it may be a pricier ticket if you're budgeting total cost.

I'm Captain Lucky when it comes to buying scalper tickets the day-of. Last year at the Tide/Arky game I got Row J at the 40 yard line from a seller in the Quad for a mere $125.00 !! Heck... the Masters Inn is charging me more per night.

The Masters is cheap for crack, blow, "companionship"...

Senior moment, I just assumed he was talking about away games...

With only one game a year... I'd never go to an away game. I love being in Tuscaloosa game weekend, meeting all sorts of great people, seeing the Quad, and SHOPPING for Tide stuff.

Anyway, I've decided on Ole Miss..... as an unforeseen issue rose its ugly head: impossible to get time off from work (Thurs & Fri) in the end of November. Darn boss!!!

Thanks everyone for all the responses.

Really? I always hear and read such bad things, but stayed there last year and it was fine; not a problem at all.
The staff is real friendly too. Then again... I'm a hardy guy. I've stayed in hostels in China, and lived for 8 years in an old Japanese dormitory in Tokyo: one tiny room (a bed ONLY!) and had to share two toilets and two showers and a crappy little kitchen with 20 other people. The Masters Inn?? Huh.... it's the Hilton compared to places I've bunked.

I hear ya and happy for ya as well! I know the place has had its moments. I'm glad none of them have crossed your path.

Something to consider: If you pick the A&M game you would have a good chance to see one of the early men's basketball games. Ole Miss would also give you a shot at volleyball, but no basketball.

Think about this if you could go to the A&M game. You would see two teams that Coach Bryant coach.

Same with Coach Stallings...and, if he saw Kentucky and Bama play? IF he went to Lexington he could see a place Coach Bryant played and coached in a stadium named after one of our other coaches.

We can go all day here.

I thought of that right after I posted. let's not forget Old Jackie.

Jackie never coached at Bama and I'd bet Texas A&M would rather forget him despite his success.

Referencing the many coaches and for which teams they coached makes a good read, but for me, my yearly Bama trip is all about meeting the myriad of fans.

I had an incredible time last year, cheering the Tide with all these ladies that sat besides and above me at the game, meeting some veterans on the street pre-game, chattin' up Tailgaters in the Quad (always an experience!!), talking to the Arkansas road crew at Rama Jamas on game day, and enjoying beer & chicken wings post game over great conversation at Phil's with six fans from all over Alabama... trying desperately to make them understand how a Canadian can be a Tide fan. We don't have that kind of football mentality in Canada, nor a high end sports mindedness. The sports fandom philosophy that Americans have is awe-inspiring, and never more punctuated to me than last year when I was grabbing a connecting flight to Birmingham in the Atlanta airport. Wearing my Bama gear and pulling a Bama carry-on, a boarding attendant at some gate all the way across the corridor saw me, waved at me and yelled out "ROLL TIDE!!!" F'en unbelievable!!! And then I got a several more "Roll Tides" from passengers when I was putting my carry-on in the overhead bin on the plane. I just gotta laugh. I mean... you'd NEVER get on a plane in Toronto wearing a Maple Leafs hockey jersey and have passengers say GO LEAFS to you... let alone have a gate attendant in another city yell GO LEAFS from across an airport hallway!! Sport fans in the USA are the best and pleasure and inspiration to be around. I sure hope you appreciate it what you have!!

Silver, I just returned from Oahu, Hawaii last week. You would be surprised the number of "Roll Tide's" I received during our stay. 5,000+ miles from home and I'm getting "Roll Tide!" BAMA FOOTBALL IS THE GREATEST!! IT IS A WAY OF LIFE!!!

Thought that was me.... but when you said "boarding attendant" I guess it was probably a gate agent. Roll Tide anyway!
