šŸ“” Ole Miss AD Keith Carter told @RebelGrove Tuesday he is hoping to bring athletes to campus July 1

Will be a miracle if it happens!!!!!
Vegas is reopening. MLB's latest plan is to have games running by the end of June without fans present. The NFL has already put out how they are working through the pre-season workouts. The NBA has their plans in place as well.

Bringing in players in July fits with what the SEC has been aiming for and with the way we've seen things progress over the last two weeks I, personally, don't understand the pessimism.

Trrry...wish i was more optimistic....really wanna be....but?
Look at these military ships....putting bunch of sailors together....
And then there is an outbreak....
I wonder if....the schools will be liable should they bring 130-150 players coaches together and the virus spreads and there is a fatality.... God forbid...
and for the young men.... hard to do social distancing in football....and isnt that a major key?
I hopeand pray it will work out....we all want it to.......
You reference the mlb, nba, nfl.... thats pure economics... professional players, professional organizations....not college...not amateur (???) athletes .... i wonder what a University President has to say about this...
So, just forgive my lack of optimism...ok?

They are thinking about the economics as much as your professional leagues. In case you missed it, there was a bot retrieved article posted here the other day about the economic impact we might see IF we don't see a fall season in sports. It's speculation based on the erroneous numbers/models we been seeing for months now.

I get the point you're trying to make although I don't think the analogy fits. It's not apples to oranges, it's apples to acorns. šŸ™ƒ

If we have players on campus they aren't going to be living in conditions that are like, say, Paty Hall was a quarter of a century ago. They are sleeping in pods, breathing recirculated air, and in close confining work conditions like you're referring to with the Navy guys. It's reasonable to have testing procedures in place for these players and closely monitor their health.

BTW, there was a study done this week about the impact social distancing would have on games...estimated stadiums would be at around 20% capacity. While ticket revenue isn't the big money maker for all schools, it plays a significant role.

This does amuse me a bit when I see people talk about these guys trading sweat when they've been trading saliva passing blunts back and forth. Okay, not all of them and I took it to a bit of an extreme (though not by much.)

The preliminary plans I've seen (SEC) seem sound. They want to test, of course, and then monitor guys on a daily basis (much like we see in other sectors.)

I thought this was well done ...
