Ohio State RB Bri'onte Dunn dismissed for violating team rules



Ohio State running back Bri'onte Dunn has been dismissed from the football team for a violation of team rules, the university announced Monday night.

Details surrounding his dismissal have not been released.

Dunn, a senior, was expected to compete for carries as a starter with the departure of Ezekiel Elliott to the NFL. In three seasons, Dunn had just 287 yards in limited action, but he averaged 6.0 yards per carry.

Dunn's departure opens the door for redshirt freshman Michael Weber, who scored two touchdowns in the Buckeyes' 2016 spring game. Curtis Samuel, Dontre Wilson and Antonio Williams also will be in the mix for carries.

Report: Dunn allegedly hit, choked girlfriend

Ohio State announced Monday evening the dismissal of running back Bri'onte Dunn from the program for a violation of team rules.

Although Urban Meyer didn't go into detail as what the violation was, reports emerged Tuesday evening that Dunn had a physical altercation with his girlfriend in which he hit her in the face and choked her. Courtesy of WBNS-10TV Columbus, Dunn's girlfriend told this to dispatchers:

"He hit me the first time at 4:40. I left. Then I was just calling my friend and see if I could sleep somewhere and nobody answered. So I made a circle back around and came back here and he was still here. So I came upstairs and I said you need to leave before I call the cops. He saw that I had my phone out cause I was going to try to record it because this isn’t the first time that this has happened and that’s when he started going crazy."

Though no criminal charges have been laid against Dunn, his girlfriend did file for a civil-protection order against Dunn.
