🏈 Nussmeier

I like him, too. Someone has already posted a thread about CSU's win and everyone who acted like McElwain was "some horrible coach" (which obviously wasn't the case) but I think a lot of people were just excited to think about the potential of our offense. Personally, I really liked what I saw and I'm even more excited for the rest of the season after tonight!

Well, I saw a lot of people target McElwain. Everytime we lost you could bet that there would be someone blaming him.

Anyways, I'm happy so far. Good play calling for the most part and the offense dominated a majority of the time.

I don't think "good riddance" means he was somehow the downfall of the team.. I mean good Lord, we were winning. There were just plenty of times during questionable play calling that I think a lot of fans felt it was time for something new and more explosive, especially now that we have the qb that we do. I think everyone realizes a lot of the seemingly conservative play calling can be attributed to coach saban's philosophy but many things about the 2010 season left a bad taste in my mouth, the iron bowl in particular.. and particularly with the level of talent we had on that offense

Definition of RIDDANCE

1
: an act of ridding

2
: deliverance, reliefoften used in the phrase good riddance especially to express relief that someone or something has gone

I'm sorry, but offense isn't the reason alone we lost those games. Defensive play had just as much to do with it...if not more in the case of the 2010 Iron Bowl. We had a good enough offense to produce the school's first and nearly second Heisman winner. How much more explosive did you think we needed to be?

But I'm not going to argue this because honestly it's not worth arguing, not to mention purely based on opinion. Roll Tide!

Responsibility for the 27 points AU scored in the second half falls on the defense, but the 3 points scored against their very mediocre defense falls on the offense and certainly to a large extent on play calling. So many times that year I just remember being crazy frustrated when plays that weren't working were continuing to be called and feeling like Greg wasn't being utilized in situations where he was likely capable. Like you said it's purely opinion and rather irrelevant at this point.. Coach Mac delivered, and whatever missed opportunities there may have been really don't matter. We have Coach Nuss now so we'll see what he brings this year

I'm not trying to derail the love fest here. I've waited to see what all was mentioned before making this comment.

Two things we saw that were different. In the red zone, we spread out more this year than last. Secondly, and this may have been in the plans before Nuss arrived, was the I-form.

Other than those two things, we didn't see anything any differently than we did last year.
