Much has been made about Saban's declaration upon arrival of building a program opponents "hate playing against."

With all due respect, I haven't seen many opponents not excited to play us. Maybe that A&M game in 2014 or Auburn during those consecutive blow out Iron Bowls with A.J. But for the most part, we seem to elicit some of the best performances of opposing players in their entire college careers.

It seems far more accurate to say that Saban has built a program that sucks the life out of rival teams and coaching tenures. The term "quickening" from Highlander comes to mind. Opponents love playing us, but they hate playing anyone AFTER us! :bama:

But to your point, here's a rare positive, rah-rah comment from me. As I was catching up with all the post-game interviews and commentary, I came across this clip which I found ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. There's more than one kind of excitement. For instance, what would you guess is the blood pressure of a man walking to his date with the electric chair?

I do understand what you mean; but our opponents' excitement about playing Bama is mostly a reflection of the sheer improbability that they'll win. It's the excitement of a guy buying his Powerball tickets.

Yes, teams are excited to play us, they want to see how far they have to go to measure up. But I bet most aren't very excited to get their ass handed to them. I would much rather hear other teams say they are excited and eager to play us rather than curl up in fetal position and say please master please don't hurt me.

I would think some of this excitement has to do with playing the #1 team in the land. Given that they can't do much about the schedule anyway, I'm guessing there's also a fair amount of false bravado going on as well.

I think the fan bases want their teams to play Bama, even though deep down inside the players who have already lined up against Bama in the trenches, they really don't want to have to do it again. They wont admit it much in the interviews, but they don't want anymore. Remember when Dak Prescott was asked about taking a hard ht a few weeks ago, he replied, " I played int he SEC, I been hit harder by Bama's defense." These guys don't forget how hard Bama hits.

I sit on this side as well. Teams want no part of us outside of the fanfare of being on TV, media all in their faces, students on campus getting geeked up, and saying they have played the best. Come kick off you know they're more worried than excited.

Not sure about anyone else, but I wouldn't be too excited going into s fight I know I have <25% chance of winning, and knowing an ass whooping is on the way.
