I just lost my Dad unexpectedly last week and we laid him to rest this past Friday. Do not mean to hijack the thread but this tugged at my heart strings. Dad was a great man and treated everyone with so much respect. He gave me my love of sports including Alabama Crimson Tide football. Gonna miss chatting with him about upcoming games and analyzing the latest Bama victory. He flat out called the dominating win over UGA. He left this world with the memory of that win in his heart and mind so not a bad one to leave on.

Sure it will be a tough Christmas for you. Lost my dad a year ago this month. He was a huge car guy. Had a few Nova’s and Chevelle’s. But his favorite rides were his 65 and 67 GTOs. One had 3 2-barrels and one had 2 4-barrels. We took many a trip to watch the Indy 500 together until he got to where he couldn’t handle it. Good memories, like you say!

When would be a good day after the holidays for us to grab a pizza and a beer at that place in downtown Sylacauga? The last person I met on the site was @50+yeartidefan . I need to move on...

Just say when!! I’m a transplant. Moved down here in ‘99 when my wife and got married. This is her hometown and I was willing to make the move from teaching/coaching at Fultondale HS to here at Sylacauga.

So sorry to hear about your dad. My dad’s oldest brother received some bad news a couple of months ago( 15 year cancer survivor and spots showed up on liver and super aggressive). My uncle has been the father figure that my dad never had and it’s crushing him. He was sent home with Hospice on Monday. I don’t see Christmas being very Merry for our family. Seeing the commercial really got me thinking about their bond. Roll Tide brother!!

So sorry to hear this, I'll keep you and your family in my prayers. My Dad's been gone for three years, and I still hear his voice in my ear when I'm doing something he taught me to do.

I don’t have a “wish I still had that car” story since I didn’t actually own a car until after I graduated college. However, one of my friend’s dad and granddad bought him a mustang with a 302 Boss, a Hurst t-shifter, 411 rear end, Holly carb, etc. as a high school graduation gift. I ran into him a few years ago at a reunion event and eventually asked him about his car. He and his son’s had recently sold it at a Mecum event for about 30 times what it had cost plus the 30+ tickets he said he’d received in it. So, I now wish I had had his car … but without the tickets.
