Wouldn’t mind seeing the numbers and methodology on this one. Not denying at all that Tuscaloosa has a crime issue, but sure seems they carved out a larger map bubble for UA than many other schools.

OK, had a few minutes, so got my web shovel out. As suspected, well actually even worse than suspected, the methodology is an absolute cherry picking joke. Some facts on this study... it was done by a group of defense attorneys in Salt lake City. They only included 26 college towns in their "study". Leaving out some other laughable metics, I'll just leave it at this... they found UC Berkely to be the safest college town of all. Amazingly, just to choose one of the statistical variables used, there were 0 (as in ZERO) Drug/Narcotic Violations within the city of Berkeley from 2023-2025. AMAZING!

Somehow, the only 2 SEC schools on the list were easily deemed the 2 most dangerous... then again, their study consisted of 26 schools, yet their final analysis only totaled 24. So, who were the other 2 schools? Who the hell knows. Only logical conclusion is, Alabama and Florida murdered them.

Made me look some too. Different than every other list I found out there, most didn't have tuscaloosa in top 25. My daughter just started early college there and is considering attending so piqued my interest.

Anyone that has taken much math, a certainly a stats class, is well aware of how you can manipulate numbers... Twain said it best with his, lies, damn lies, and statistics... quote. But a quick dive into that study left me gagging for some clean air and an IV of reality.

Tuscaloosa has some issues for sure, but 99% of the time (like most other places), good decisions and instincts will keep one out of harm's way.

There's a high concentration of crime in west Tuscaloosa and then small pockets of really nice and bad areas throughout the rest. It's unfortunate but I don't know of anything you can do to fix the bad areas unless the families there want to fix it.

I think Tuscaloosa is a decent college town, but could improve in a ton of areas to make it a more desirable place. Would love to know what you all think.

Results I saw that looked legit had most of the crimes as liquor law violations. Assumed that to be underage and maybe public intox

This is what I pulled from their website... Bizarro world type stuff... Besides the fact that Berkeley rivals Heaven on crime rate, even the Tuscaloosa numbers are way off, both ways.

Berkeley is a tiny hamlet, just 17 square miles. Harpersville and Vincent in Shelby County are both 21 square miles. Berkely is nestled beside Oakland...it's a crime superstar, with the lowest possible crime rating. The UC-B ranking would be akin to a ranking for Samford to include only Homewood or Mountain Brook stats.

Now, don't get me wrong, Tuscaloosa probably has more than two armpits when it comes to sketchy or high crime districts, but I ain't skeered.

I've been watching the cfb_home guy on X for a minute now. I've noticed one thing about him the last two off-seasons. In what appears to be an effort to boost followers he's taken up the habit of taking shots around the collegiate landscape. Troll? Perhaps? Probably closer to a form of farming.

A strange dichotomy. There are two popular college football follows that are both taking this tactic this offseason. Mike Farrell has just ... blown a damn gasket it appears.

What's crazy to me is you have this cfb_home guy trying to work his way up while Farrell, using the same "personality" on X, is trying to stop his fall.
