They don't throw to the tight ends. Also heard Gilbert was mainly gonna be split out wide. I personally think their best back is Kenny McIntosh and he won't likely touch the ball that much this season. Zeus has been lackluster (injuries), James Cook is nowhere to be found most of the time (injuries and lack of proper usage), but Kendall Milton was pretty solid from what we saw last year. That being said, yes, they have zero excuses this year. They will move the ball and be a good team. You have to wonder if Nolan Smith and Adam Anderson are all they are cracked up to be after the last few years of little to no results on defense. Those were big time five star guys not hitting yet for Georgia. Without the transfer portal, Georgia would have some gaping holes on defense, but with Kendrick and Smith stepping in, they really have no excuses on defense either. Will be interesting to watch that first game against Clemson and see what both of those teams are made of.

I'm just guessing Monken knows how to play to his strength. Gilbert is a TE by definition but plays split out. That doesn't change what his impact can and will likely be.

I thought Milton was their best RB and is really good. White will be good. Cook may not get many touched but got an 80 yard receiving TD last year in the Alabama game.

As for the D, Adam Anderson had some stat of being one of the the top edge pressure generators in the SEC.

It's early, but I was favoring UGA vs. Clemson week 1. We'll see what else we learn from fall camp though.

I was at the casino last weekend and almost, ALMOST went and put money on Georgia to cover the spread that game. But then I thought I'd wait a few weeks and make sure no injuries and such. I would think Georgia is working with more experience than Clemson, but Clemson's defensive line could cause a lot of trouble for Georgia. They are touting Georgia's offensive line, but they are plugging in some new guys and Salyer isn't showing what the media is trying to make him in my mind. Wonder what happened with Clay Webb? They said he would be a Day 1 guy at Center, and we haven't heard a sound out of him.

There have been numerous comparisons of Kirby and Richt in the same amount of time they have spent at UGA and the similarities in their records.

It was about this same time in his tenure, that Richt made the exact same statement. During an off season he actually took some courses from a retired CEO on how to manage people and allow your "managers" to do their job.

It is crazy how eerily parallel their careers have been up to this point. Both start out like gang busters, win a SEC title quickly. Kirby plays for the MNC..........still been 41 years since their last title.

When I read that the first person who came to mind was Mack Brown. Now that you mention Richt, I remember reading an article 10 or so years ago talking about "CEO" coaches versus the "X and O's" type: Brown and Richt both fell into the CEO.

Coincidentally, I heard Emmnual Ocho commenting on College Football Live about how Sark would do in Texas. His comparision was to Mack and how he dealt with the alumni, boosters, BOR, et. al., in his final days in Austin: his CEO role. There was no mention as soon as Mack took on that role, the program fell out from underneath the footing he'd built in the late '00's.

I'm of the opinion "let Kirby take a manager role" where his focus is on the boosters and their ilk. It'll be a program we'll compare to LSU in 2019 and 2020: success for the team comes from the assistant coaches, not the program the head coach has implemented.

For months I've seen people saying he wasn't attending classes at LSU. I've seen zero transferrable credits. One thing for sure, this kid is dealing with some issues he's not having a lot of success with.

This leaves UGA, who was already getting thin at WR, in a bit of a crunch.

Just read about this a little earlier. Very unfortunate a talent like him is losing it right in front of us all. Curious as to what exactly the problem is. Hopefully for the sake of his future he can get it together.
