🏈 No clear Championship caliber team

After watching a lot of football the last four weeks, maybe I'm being a little hard on us because not one team in this country is looking great. Ohio State has struggled against no competition at all, TCU has struggled against everyone, Michigan State beat Oregon but struggled against everyone else, Auburn is a disaster, Ole Miss struggled against Vanderbilt etc. College football is more wide open than I've ever seen it. I still think our offense is horrible, but it also appears every other team out there is dealing with their issues as well.

I agree. I was thinking this same thing about an hour ago. Michigan is going to take out either Michigan State and/or Ohio State...and then lose two more they shouldn't. I also don't think TCU should be in the top five tomorrow afternoon.

Welp let's pack it in and hope for next season. ... who leaving, who's staying, what coach leaves??????......... Bo and Harris are better RB's anyway....... Saban is gone...so who do we go after?

:sarcasm:

So when is a team supposed to play like a champion? Live on the edge and save it for Week 12? Saying it'S only Week 4 is yet another excuse.

Who has played who? Playing only four games isn't an excuse and you don't play in championships for how you play. Most of the games for the big boys have been against OOC opponents. The #1 team has yet to play a conference game. Give it another few weeks and you'll start to see who is for real.

I would have to agree that there really isn't 5-6 teams far and away better than everyone else. There does seem to be a lot more parity this year. There could be a number of reasons that are contributing, ie. inconsistent QB play, Oline play, shitty officiating, shitty play calling.

I'm just saying the years we won Championships, you knew we were a Top 2 team. We had the swagger and showed the ability. No team has done that this year. Championship teams typically don't just break away during conference play six games into the year, they typically show signs all throughout the year. Last year was a lot of the same way as it was this year. I think a lot of teams have played a lot of meaningful games, we played Wisconsin and Ole Miss, Auburn has played LSU, Louisville, and Mississippi State, Notre Dame has played Texas and Tech, Florida State, Tennessee, and Clemson have played someone, Oregon, Michigan, Michigan State, BYU, Utah, and UCLA have all played teams. Plenty of games of note have been played. Georgia has yet to play anyone considered a contender this year, and struggled against Vanderbilt (like Ole Miss), but yes, they finally play us next weekend. I'm not panicking, just making the comoment that twenty teams have a legit shot at the playoff this year.

So much football still to be played. I get what you are saying. No team that I have seen has the 'wow' factor, including the reigning NC. I would have trouble picking out a top 16 right now, much less the four teams to go to the playoffs. I thought Oregon would be a factor, but Utah went in there and took no prisoners last night. The Utes will quite possibly be a factor, but their half of the PAC 12 is as tough, on a relative basis as the SEC west.

We are not looking like a contender at this point, but if we keep winning we will be there at the end. No need to push any panic buttons, just take it one game at a time as we enter a very tough stretch on our schedule.

I think LSU, TXA&M, and UGA are contenders. They have an identity and the QB play is there. Unfortunately I think Bama is in that second tier group including Tenn, Arky, MSSU, Florida, Ole Miss.

Watching us play without crimson goggles tells me our team has enough talent to overcome a lot of different challenges these contenders can make. We caused our own problems last week, but this week played a boring but effective game. I say "Subsisto tractus" (Stay the course )

Disagree, next week will really tell us. I think we're better than all the named teams (even Ole Miss). Was worried about aTm until I watched their first game---they did not look very good and the score was deceptive. Arky is just bad with Miss St not far behind and we get LSU and Tenn at home--I like our chances if we win this Saturday.

Is it just me, or does "Dak" sound like the name of a comic book super-hero? Can you imagine him on this Bama team? If this were Major League Baseball, maybe we could work a trade. Dak for Coker and Bateman and a recruit to be named later?

I certainly think Bama can beat any of those teams. I just feel the teams listed have more of an identity and may play more consistent over the course of the year. LSU, A&M, UGA, and Tenn are dangerous games for Bama. If we took 2 out of 4 I would be happy. I see Dobbs giving Bama fits.

Dak is short for Dakota. It's a nickname. Julio's name isn't Julio.

I've all the top teams play this season and I can honestly say there isn't a (as of yet) dominant team this season. Every team has some sort of obvious flaw, even Ohio St who you'd think would be the last team to have any flaws seeing how many players returned from their NC team.
