Nick Saban disclosed that true freshman running back Bo Scarbrough will serve a four-game NCAA suspension due to an "amateurism" issue that he declined to comment about.
Scarbrough, who tore his ACL during the spring, practiced in a black, no-contact jersey during Thursday's session.
Saban said Scarbrough's rehabilitation is ahead of schedule.
"He'll probably be awhile before he can play," Saban said. "Our target for him is to be able to practice, increase his workload over the next what amounts to two months and hopefully by the end of September he'll be able to start making a contribution."
Redshirt freshman offensive guard Josh Casher injured his pectoral muscle while lifting weights and will be out of practice for a few weeks. Other injuries include wide receiver Cam Sims, who injured his knee during the spring, and wide receiver Raheem Falkins, who suffered a fracture in his leg this summer that required surgery.
