Two of college football's most storied programs put on a classic battle in the Georgia Dome in a rollicking showcase of national importance that pushed both teams to their limits, but second-ranked Alabama (12-1 overall) had just enough to outlast third-ranked Georgia (11-2 overall), beating the Bulldogs, 32-28, to win the 2012 Southeastern Conference Championship before a crowd of 75,624 Saturday evening.
