I think Jones will come around. I have no doubt CNS will see to that.
No. 1 recruit in Alabama, Crimson Tide commit, looking around after Nick Saban's staff changesANDREW OLSON | 3 HOURS AGO
Alabama formally announced the hiring of seven new assistant coaches on Friday. Nick Sabanās staff overhaul has prompted the top recruit in the Yellowhammer State to look around while maintaining his ācommitmentā to the Crimson Tide.
Calera DT Jayson Jones committed to Alabama on July 2, 2018. Since then, however, his potential position coach and coordinator have changed at UA. Brian Baker has replaced Craig Kuligowski as defensive line coach while Pete Golding has been promoted to defensive coordinator taking over for the departed Tosh Lupoi.
āCoaches come and go. I obviously know that,ā Jones told AL.comās Josh Bean. āI just donāt have that same feel with Alabama that I had with the last coaching staff. I know I have to get used to them and build a relationship with each and every one of them, but I just donāt feel that mojo.ā
Despite the lack of āmojo,ā Jones isnāt backing off his pledge to the Tide just yet.
āIām still committed to Alabama,ā Jones said, ābut Iām going to be venturing out more, outside of my state and looking at other schools.ā
Those other schools include Florida, Oregon, Tennessee, Georgia and Michigan, according to Bean. On the 247Sports Composite, the 6-6, 340-pound Jones is ranked the No. 1 recruit from Alabama, No. 2 defensive tackle and No. 38 prospect overall nationally in the class of 2020.
