Mac Jones,

Tyrell Shavers
Kyriq McDonald
Markail Benton
Phidarian Mathis
Kendall Randolph
Hunter Brannon
Joseph Bulovas

Miller Forristall got a medical redshirt

Most excited about:

1. Benton - Seems like a proptypical "new age" LB... Lighter frame and great speed but still big enough to thump people

2. Mathis - We just need another big bruiser to eat snaps. The more weight on ole' boy the better!

3. Townsend - I kinda got the A. Stewart vibe from him out of high school... Could have played either side of the ball, very good athlete

4. Randolph - I know our OL is staaaacked right know, but I thought he was super impressive out of HS. Very athletic for a big dude. I'm assuming he stays at tackle? Think he could have a bright future somewhere on the line... Probably not next year though.

So I guess Vandarius Cowan got too much playing time? I'm really excited to see him play, He's a big dude that apparently has a nasty streak, so I can't wait to see him step up. We could use his depth, especially after what we saw injury wise this past season.

This deal with the grad transfer QB is taking on a different look.........

ECU grad transfer QB Gardner Minshew visits #Alabama tomorrow, but #Tennessee & #Auburn are now in the picture too (he could end up in school at UT by next Thurs) My story how his recruitment has really heated up.

Would stand to reason that both Lewis and Miller would have been added to the list if they hadn't made it back at the end of the season.

Most likely wouldn't be hoisting the trophy without their returns though. I think Lewis put his name back on the radar for 2018 with his Playoff showing. Normally one wouldn't think a guy could do that with a two game return and basically only playing three games the entire year, but he made the absolute most of it and I don't think he'll regret that year of eligibility he lost. We obviously know who he is, but he'll be a superstar this Fall once folks open their eyes to his size, athleticism, and ability.

Probably....but glad they got back...they made some nice plays in playoffs

And especially true with Anfernee Jenning going down in the semi. I'm not sure in Lewis case that a redshirt would have ever been used.

He played in Tennessee LSU, Mississippi State, Mercer, Auburn, Clemson and Georgia.... without injury... so he wouldn't qualify in any way shape or form for a medical hardship...

Redshirt = ZERO games played
Medical Hardship = Season ending injury in first half of the season without playing more than 4 games.

Keep in mind that you only have 5 years to play 4 regardless of Medical Hardships awarded. So if you didn't play one year and then receive a medical hardship for another year, you'd have to apply for a 6th year of eligibility. The hard part to overcome in getting a 6th year is when you've used a Redshirt year already without injury. They don't often grant that 6th year in such cases.

Oh, no. I didn't mean he got hurt. I wasn't able to put together that he saw the field. I remember them talking as if he was practicing to see the field in the Playoffs, but I wasn't very in tuned with the fact that he got in during the season. Definitely had no clue he saw action in all of those games. Special Teams or actual defensive series?

The only tackles/stats he had was from the mercer game for tackles and a QB rush from the LSU game... so I'd say mostly special teams or a very small amount during mop up duty...
