The Alabama coach adamantly slams those who think four-team playoff should only include conference champions

Prompted yet again about college football's plan for a four-team playoff, Nick Saban apologized for being so blunt, but couldn't hold back his frustration about one particular opinion.

The crux of the debate has centered around whether the playoff should only include conference champions, or whether the best four teams -- regardless of where it finished in their respective conference or division -- should be invited.

Saban, the coach of a team that won the 2011 BCS national championship despite failing to win its own division, clearly favors the latter. He's said as much throughout his various Crimson Caravan stops and his colleagues throughout the league unanimously feel the same.

On the other side of the debate, Big Ten commissioner Jim Delany has been one of the most important decision-makers in favor of a conference champions-only playoff. He even took an apparent shot at Alabama when discussing why he feels that way.
