🏈 Nick Saban Coach of the Year

I think O'brien at Penn State should win coach of the year

I like this choice along with Hugh Freeze.

Don't get me wrong, I would love for Saban to win it, but he has the wheels in motion and just reloads at this point. Guys like Freeze, O'Brien, Franklin at Vandy have done a heck of a job with what they had. As the old cliche' goes...took some lemons and made some lemonade.

My vote = Mack Brown.

Where can you find a coach who lands top 5 recruiting classes year after year, top 1-2 revenue/profit year after year, pay out $7-10m a year in coaching salaries, and lose 15 conference games the last 3 years.

Takes a special coach to do all this.

There are many coaches that reload the recruits but, coaching em up to win year after year is another thing. I just think its crazy that the coach that is possibly going to go down as the greatest coach in the BCS era is not in the running or even the SEC Coach of the year.

I would vote 100% for O'Brien.

No one overcame more than he did this year. The guy took a program at its absolute worst point (the worst of any school in college football history), and which had lost a ton of players, and turned it into one of the top teams in the B1G. McGloin and the brand new offense have been fantastic this year, and the team has played with more heart and determination than most teams. Considering they are not even bowl-eligible, that's a big deal. It takes a special kind of leader and person to be able to do all of that, and inspire millions of fans, and still draw top recruits (Hackenberg, Breneman), and bring respect back to the school.

On top of all that, and the pressure of taking the helm of a crazy fan base (Paterno is a hard act to follow), he also takes care of his disabled son.

Read this article, it is a GREAT read and very worthwhile: http://www.nytimes.com/2012/08/26/s...-no-stranger-to-adversity.html?pagewanted=all

In the SEC the COY would go to Sumlin if I had the choice. After all, this A&M team was forecasted to be last in the West by most the media and a lot of the coaches.

COY in D1? Kelly at ND certainly deserves consideration and would likely get my vote. I'd vote for Mora Jr. as quickly as I would O'Brien.
