Nick Montana was on recruitred by Bama, and received a visit from the QB and his HoF father.

Nick signed with Washington, where he mopped up as a true freshman then Redshirted last season.

Bama hired away Nick's OC from Washington.

Nick, the third year college student, is transfering to a 2-year Junior College.

So, Nick will play out his JC time in 2012, have 2 years to play 2, and be looking for a new school. This could work out for Bama.

Joe Montana's son throwing to Cris Carter's son could be a really cool possibility.

Montana's decision is simple: He wants to play and he's not going to beat out Keith Price, who will be a junior next fall. Montana's plan is to go to a junior college first, then transfer to a four-year school. That way he can avoid sitting out and not seeing game action for a year.

I recall a recent interview with (Forgive me. I've forgotten the name of our recently signed JUCO DB superstud) where he stated that CNS' track record with JUCOs was one of the key factors in getting him to sign.

A year one the field in JUCO and then two years within a system set up by his former QB coach at Washington could be sweet.

The issue, correct me if I am wrong, is that this would put Nick and Phil Simms head-to-head competing for the starting position. Phil being a former Elite 12 QB and having been in the offense for a year longer than Nick, this could be a deterent.

Like '93, I don't see this happening.

Setting aside his comment, there's a few things going around right now that really make me believe it'll never happen.

In fact, I'd go as far as to say Saban won't recruit a JUCO QB unless we had a rash of career ending injuries at QB.

Don't play "I've got a secret". What is going on?

If I had definite word, I'd say something. Right now, it's just talk in the locker room. I don't have to, but I'm going to leave it at that.

CNS doesn't like to dive into the JUCO ranks unless a kid can step on the field and make an immediate impact. QB is a tougher position and like Terry stated, it would take a rash of season ending injuries for CNS to change his approach. The ones we have in the fold now and any we are recruiting for '13 will be our direction of course.

The only way Bama offers this kid is if Simms and Ely fizzle HARD. JUCO QBs are great in times of need (i.e. Trotter, Mosely as your ONLY options) or if you happen upon a once in a generation player (same year, obviously). I don't see that situation taking place. Nick isn't his daddy and I think Simms and Ely will be more than capable of running the offense.

The problems being it is often difficult to pick up an offense right away, it is worse on a QB so the learning curve exists but you have less time to address it.

Not every QB possesses the leadership/personality to win over a team. Your QB needs to be the unquestioned leader and THE guy. You think the guys that watched Simms bust his ass for PT will immediately cling to a JUCO kid unless he is sensational?

And lastly, if you strike gold and the kid pans out better than you think and goes pro, you're still left with a QB issue.

Of course, all that changes if he suddenly starts looking like that other Montana and the , perhaps, Saban would consider it. There's also the possibility of your OC wanting him due to their past discussions. Of course, Saban has the final say-so but it wouldn't be a bad thing for the kid to have your OC on his side.
