🏈 Nick Marshall cited for marijuana

On a bit of a serious note:

If you've surfed around the 'net and read any of the Marshall related threads on different Bama forums I know you've seen people talk about how AL.com is handling this story. No pun intended when I say the article yesterday was a puff piece. The gist of Marcello's piece is how Marshall's family provides a shoulder for him to lean on with his opportunities for redemption; the second chance he was offered.

Most of the opinions I've read fall in the category of AL.com and the Birmingham News have lost all credibility due to their coverage.

I'm left thinking this. What was expected? An article, or series of articles, eviscerating Marshall?

Their coverage of the arrest is really no different than that of Tenpenny. It touched on the facts and offered no opinions. Pettway's return to Bama was covered in the same light—a lesson learned and second chance.

Now, with Marshall his second chance was blown by all appearances. A question remains on how Gus handles this. I can't say we have a precedent to compare this story against. We can't with Parks. We can't with Dyer.

It's important to remember that the drug tests are administered from the schools themselves. It's not a NCAA thing unless it's performance enhancing.

At Auburn, the second failed test may result in losing half of the season's eligibility— second test, may lose. That's not as strict as Mississippi State but far stricter than Ole Miss.

Which means sometime in the next week, one of our guys will get popped for something silly/dumb again...
