According to Chief Lonnie Holder of Reynolds police, former Wilcox standout and current Auburn starting quarterback Nick Marshall was pulled over at 1:19 Friday afternoon. He was driving east on Georgia Highway 96 on the east side of Reynolds. He was only cited for a window tint violation and possession of less than one ounce of marijuana which is a violation of a city ordinance. He was not arrested. We contacted the sports information at Auburn University, but they say they had no information on the incident.

Auburn quarterback Nick Marshall has been cited for possession of a small amount of marijuana in Georgia.

Reynolds Police Chief Lonnie Holder said he and another officer detected the odor of marijuana after pulling Marshall over at 12:45 p.m. ET Friday for a window tint violation. Holder said they found 8-10 grams of marijuana under the passenger-side visor.

Because it was less than an ounce, they didn't arrest Marshall.

The Tigers quarterback, who will be a senior this season, was cited for violations of two city ordinances. He doesn't have to appear for a Sept. 10 court date if he pays fines of $1,000 for marijuana possession and $100 for the window tint violation.

According to AL.com, the Auburn athletic department has yet to comment on the citations.

The website also reported that the school's athletic department drug policy says a student-athlete involved in an alcohol- or drug-related incident must report it "immediately" to the head coach and "failure to report the incident is itself a violation and subject to sanctions."

Marshall, who is from Pineview, Georgia, helped lead Auburn to a Southeastern Conference title and into the VIZIO BCS National Championship last season.

I find it a bit ironic since we're about one year removed from Malzahn bragging about "no off the field issues" at Media Days 2013. McNeal, Parks, Mincy, Marshall...

I find it interesting because it makes me look back at Chizik. Remember, their football program had to go to the point of hiring outside security to help keep an eye on their players. A lot have said the removal of Chizik meant these behavioral issues were gone as well. Missing from their narrative was the fact a lot of these guys were recruited and signed when Malzahn was there. Is this simply a continuation of the same problems with another face/name in charge?

It piques my curiosity because I want to know if it was a bag of bunk or something like kush. (Purple Charger = Purple Kush?) I wonder because of the dollar amount spent.

I don't find it funny. No program is immune to things like this.

BTW, and I'll pose this as a question. If someone is busted/caught for smoking weed in the car how often do you think they're smoking? That's not a trait of an occasional user.

If he was just casually riding around smoking, yeah I would assume this is a regular thing for him. The fact that he had less than a gram on him leads me to believe hes just simply a pothead tho, and at least not stupid enough to be riding around with ALOT of it. Then again he could have just ran out lol

He's riding around with a quarter. That's the reason I was wondering what kind of smoke he had. Bunk= maybe 35-40 bucks. If he's smoking some "loud" he's in the $100+ range.

Ahhhh okay, I was talking to someone last night (an Auburn fan not shockingly) that told me it was less than a gram. If it had been awhile since he smoked it and you could still smell it I would have to guess it wasnt any garbage weed.
