🏈 New Polls Are Out

Top 5 is pretty clear cut, in my opinion. Perhaps the order should be juxtaposed (BSU at three over Oregon is a stretch). I think 6-14 could wind up in any order; they are ranked that way based on schedule and the fact that they all still have a 0 in the loss column. I was on an Auburn board the other day and grumbled about us being #10 already when we've yet to play a complete game but really teams like LSU, Utah, Arizona, etc. haven't looked great either. The next few weeks will be telling.

You guys have a hell of a stretch. Off the big win at Arkansas and then welcoming UF to town followed by a trip to USCjr. You guys win those and you head into the final weekend easily undefeated. Ohio State will probably run the table so unless Bama drops a game somewhere BSU will be on the outside looking in again.

As for my boys, I'm glad to see LA Monroe coming to town this week. After the last three weeks this is a de facto off week. I hope the starters are off the field by the end of the first half. The only way I'd want the starters in past that would be if we told Cam to stay in the damn pocket and throw the ball. After LA Monroe we have a trip to Kentucky and then home for Arkansas and LSU. UK shouldn't be a game, but it shouldn't have been last year either. Arkansas' passing game scares me. If we can play a full game we'll trounce LSU. Unless we just drop a game we shouldn't Arkansas appears to be our only stumbling block left before the Iron Bowl. UGA has looked terrible this year. We will not lose to Ole Miss--period. LSU just doesn't scare me at all but I thought we could beat them last year and they handed us our asses. Who knows.

I am a little disappointed that the razorbacks dropped to 15. Yes they did fall apart a little in the 4th, but I think that the razorbacks could beat most of the top ten teams.

I said it before - I believe that was our toughest opponent this year. That doesn't mean that Bama can sit back and relax though. We still have some very tough opponents coming up.

I've got The barn winning the next 2, then loosing to the hogs & LSU. Preseason picks i never change so i'm stuck with those.
I'm questioning the LSU over Aubie pick. LSU has a lot more probelms that i expected. and after the 2 come back wins in a row
the fighting Cheezniks look a little better than i expected. They will win the 3 after LSU...but get beat down in the Iron Bowl.
This will be another one of those all you can eat specials for the Bama O. Was Byrum will be a very busy man that day.

I NOT see the hogs loosing to aTm or AU. (to be honest i don't see them loosing another game all year NOW)
But had picked them 7 - 5 this year. IF they have any chance of a loss at all it will be @ USC. No one else will be
much of a challange for Arky. I think Arky is STILL a top 10 team. They damn near trucked the best team in the country.
15 is way too far of a drop off. Piggies got BBQ'd on that one imo.
Between ole miss & aubie my picks are toast. one team tanked and the othe has over achived beyond their
natrual ablity. So i almost don't even wanna follow my own picks now. My season has tanked for picks.

I'm not saying that we will definitely beat Arkansas at all--let me say that upfront. Our secondary plays very soft, typically in the first half, and Mallett will pick us apart if he has time. We're going to have to blitz him and confuse him to have any shot at that game.

That being said, I think Auburn presents a bigger challenge to Arkansas than USCjr does. The Spurrier QB rotation will be in full swing by the time those two teams play. Garcia is just as bad as he is good when there is true pressure on him. He plays will but when the chips are down, he cracks. Their back-up is a true freshman. Mistakes WILL happen.

Arkansas has a much better defense than I thought but they will struggle defending Cam Newton. I think our o-line should be able to get a solid push and open up some running lanes. We eventually wore down USCjr and found Dyer some room, which opened up the rest of the offense. It will not be an easy win, hell it may well be a loss, but I wouldn't count us out against Arkansas. Especially with the game being at home. At the end of the day, this is still a Bobby Petrino team. Their defense will eventually give up a play. Even last season when they jumped out all over us. Our offense stormed back in the second half and then hit a wall and they finished blowing us out. I don't see the wheels coming off the offense in that same manner this year.

AlabamaAubKiller, I'm with you on LSU. Miles will continue to underwhelm, in my opinion. They may beat us but I'd be shocked. Especially with them coming to Jordan-Hare Stadium at night. That place has felt like a completely different stadium this year. There is just something different about the energy level. Jarrett Lee and Richard Jefferson are playing musical chairs at this point for the QB position. Their D has looked suspect; they struggled with playing UNC's scout team (or what amounted to it anyway). Maybe I'm setting myself up for disappointment but they just don't concern me.

And as for the polls, I think Arkansas took too far of a plunge. They were the #10 team and they lost to the #1 team. Unfortunately, all the teams that jumped in front of them still have a 0 in the loss column and at the end of the day, the polls are about perception, not actual talent. I'm not convinced Auburn should be ranked higher than Arkansas at this point--we just haven't lost yet. And I would take Arkansas over LSU and Arizona anytime. Don't fret, Arky fans--it'll work out by the end of the season and you'll finish a top ten team unless you just implode. It just so happened you got your best QB in ages at the same time Bama has two of the best running backs in the country. You guys deserve all the credit in the world for the game you played Saturday and if Mallett hadn't gotten shaky at the end under pressure things could've been very, very different. I hope ya win 'em all but one, of course!
