Kickoffs will take place at the 35-yard line while touchbacks will move the ball to the 25.

Alabama’s players and coaches know all about the new kickoff rules that will be in place when the 2012 season kicks off.

They just don’t appear to be changing much of anything.

ā€œWhatever it is, it doesn't really matter to me,ā€ sophomore linebacker Trey DePriest said. ā€œI've got to run down there, regardless.ā€

In the spirit of increasing player safety, The NCAA playing rules oversight committee passed a slew of changes that are designed to cause more touchbacks and less high-speed collisions. Kickoffs will move from the 30-yard line to the 35 while touchbacks will now be spotted at the 25-yard line rather than the 20. Players on the kickoff team are also limited to a 5-yard running head start.

ā€œUntil you live it,ā€ coach Nick Saban said, ā€œyou don't know for sure how it's going to affect the game."
