Thought I would share this info on kickers and punters transfers so far this year. As of Jan 8th, there have been 61 kickers and punters transfer schools. This just highlights how deep the new way of managing rosters is affecting schools and athletes' opportunities. Alabama alone has three on this list. Two in and one out.

This is really affecting the opportunities for kids coming out of high school. My son is a rising senior and one of the top-rated punters in the country. This weekend he has been invited to attend the Kohls's Future Stars camp in Panama City. You only get invited to this camp if you are projected to kick at the college level. There are 11 5* punters in this rising class. My son currently is a 4.5* and ranks in the top 40. Probably more upside for him as he attends more ranking camps and continues to perform well. I say all of this to demonstrate that virtually none of the kids at my sons level and higher will get P4 offers. Maybe three or four. The top kid in the country is a Miss St commit.

Most of these kids will have to go DII or G5 to start out and transfer their way up as their careers progress. 95% of these kids at this time don't even have an offer being listed from ANYWHERE at all. 5 years ago, most of these kids would already have high interest and would be getting solid D1 offers and roster with a top school and wait their turn and develop in their chosen program.

Now we have to discuss how bad do you want this because your path is going to be find a school where day one you are going to be the guy so you get game reps and film and then move up to another better opportunity. The alternative is try to go to the school you want to go to and hope you ever get a chance because a school like Bama is going to invite two or three kids to camp that are transfers and that is who they are looking at. Or do you just want to be a regular kid (non-athletic) and have a standard college experience.

We were at the Bama camp summer before last when Doud was there. I was talking with his father before he got the offer from Bama and even then he was telling me how much the recruiting game was changing. Exciting to even be in the process in a small way. It will be fun to watch him follow the journey and see what happens.
