šŸ“” NCAA Division I Committee on Infractions will release its decision/penalties at noon ET regarding Baylor’s football program dating back to Briles

It is crap like this as to why I think the NCAA will be obsolete after the 4 super conferences are formed. I know there has been talk about forming their own alliance and cutting loose from the NCAA. Needs to happen!!!

I know there has been some buzz about expediting this process, but I think the NCAA is too late.

I think back to how long it took for the Albert Means investigation and all the crap that transpired. I want to say there were 3 recruiting cycles we went though with the cloud of impending doom and negative recruiting from our rivals hanging over our head, plus the 2 years of actual penalties and then the probation status after that. It is unnecessary for it to take that long.

Baylor punished but not for sex assault issues

"The panel found that those instances of non-reporting did not constitute impermissible benefits to football student-athletes because of a campus-wide culture of nonreporting," the NCAA said in a release. "That culture was driven by the school's broader failure to prioritize Title IX implementation, creating an environment in which faculty and staff did not know and/or understand their obligations to report allegations of sexual or interpersonal violence. Because the culture of non-reporting was not limited to cases involving student-athletes, the panel could not find that these instances resulted in impermissible benefits."

Ok so help me here, if the culture violates the rules and it is common practice even among non athletes it does not break the rules because it did not constitute impermissible benefits for student-athletes? Isn't this the very definition of lack of institutional control? Almost like they are saying we have the rules but as long as you do not read them you can't be held to them. Maybe I am way off on how I read this.

I mean if Alabama got dinged terribly for the Means issues, which honestly didn't really have iron clad evidence and yet here we are with obvious evidence of problems within a program what is the NCAA doing anymore?

I mean, it's legal for me to hire a bunch of hookers for the players and assaulting them is perfectly fine. Just god forbid don't give anyone 100$ for groceries to feed their starving homeless brother and sister. What a useless organization, ready for the super conferences to take over rules so we can get things less clouded and at least more transparent.

Here's a primary issue with "problems within a program." They've essentially used as their defense it was a campus wide problem and not confined within the athletic department.

Setting that aside, see my earlier post: it's never been their business.
