🏀 NCAA brings down the hammer on 'Cuse

Hey Howard, have you seen anyone with the numbers on 'Cuse and their scholarships? Three per year over four years is almost the entire allocation of scholarships.

What's the limit per year? Isn't it a total of 13 with a limit of five initials per calendar year?

If my numbers are correct it isn't as bad as USC received, but it is on par with what Miami and Bama were handed in football.

The one thing I can't stop thinking about (largely due to it being force fed by the media outlets) is what this might mean for UNC. We all saw people use USC and their sanctions as an example of what might happen to Miami with Shapiro...didn't really work out that way.

It's a conspiracy at work against 'Cuse because their 2-3 slows down the game...and we all know that a faster game means more fans in the seats. :doh2:

A few years back the NCAA changed the rule so that within the confines of the thirteen overall limit you can sign unlimited players each year. I think something that happened with Baylor that resulted in dropping the five signees per year rule. As I understand it, they are at the limit of 13 for next season.

Here is an article from their site on Scout -http://syracuse.scout.com/story/1524944-three-year-roster-breakdown?s=185

It sounds like they expect two at least of their current players to transfer, putting them at 11.

It sounds like they will be able to keep all four of their recruits, in what is supposed to be an excellent class. That would be contingent on them signing an LOI or a financial aid agreement prior to thee date of the decision.

Assuming they only lose two of their current players to transfers, they would have 11 next year, and with no further attrition, nine the following year, and only be able to sign one. It would be like a football team being forced to reduce and stay at 65 scholarships. 'Cuse will have little room for recruiting mistakes, and injuries could be devastating.
