I agree with both of his quoted statements. There is nothing good from sports gambling. It's Tik Tok with a cash drain.
I'm unfamiliar with the legislation, but an affordability check might include a credit score. If you are subprime, maybe you're not ready for prime time.
Here's an article on it. Limits deposits per day, and if it's over $1,000, an "affordability check" of some sort must be performed. Prop bets would be outlawed. Perhaps I'd get the borders of my TV back.
The SAFE Bet Act would implement new regulations on gambling companies, including requiring limits on amounts bettors can wager and how often they place bets.

I stand by my position. It’s complete crap. I used to love it when Saban’s up by 31 points and there’s a 29 1/2 spread, cajoling his third stringers when they gave up a garbage touchdown, serenaded by the scattered boos of those who were not complacent with watching Alabama dominate, but had staked a position to profit.
I have libertarian leanings, but I’m really more of a conservative. The AI-stoked titillations keeping gamblers wagering are akin to the stripper getting you to buy her champagne. And, as shown in the original article, organized crime gets leverage and exploits.

It's fun when you find out you were ripped off form the beginning with some bets and people took your hard earned money?
I try not to bet on pro games much at all because it does come across and staged a lot of the time. I bet. I win and I lose, but it is complete crap as a whole. Lots of other things people could use their money for. Not gonna tell me every college kid betting is debt free and has no student loans that will eventually be behind payment wise on. Same with normal citizens that are addicted. personal problems no doubt, but still not much great from it all than a quick rush. My own grandmomma is addicted to gambling. She has the money to support herself, but gambling has become more meaningful to her than her own kids. I'm about the only one that gets past her on that feeling, but even she'll tunr on me time to time when it comes to gambling.
I don't have an issue with gambling, it's the corruption that it brings. Used to like boxing but too many fixes. If they can sway pro players I'm sure they can pay the college kids enough as well.
This is such a common sense thing to me. Do we see defense in the NBA? No. So, half of the game is gone...but I'm going to wager on half of the story of a game? The way the NFL is called today?
MLB does have betting potential and it's something Tim thinks should be outlawed. Over/Unders on totals? If it's cold and drizzling in Tampa I don't see a double digit total, ya know?

We've seen kids in college kicked out this season. It's going to happen.
Brandon and I were looking at two pictures of a few months ago where one featured cigarettes and the other featured a gambling site. It was the image of the outfield at an MLB park. I've mentioned a few times, sarcastically, how well a partnership will work out between gambling and professional leagues.
It's all about like an abstinence table in a strip club.
You mentioned this yesterday. It made my wheels spin.
IF you include border info you get people distracted. So, in order to hear the original content they have to go back in videos. Which, in turn, pays more because of the screen time...

You don't know until a story like this comes out is the point. Lots of pretty good information out regarding Chiefs games and the penalties thrown in favor of them during a specific run. Lots of data out there to show there are a ton of underlying factors that go into results that we'll likely never learn about, but fixes happen more than any of us want to believe.
