"When I went down there, I absolutely fell in love with the coaches, with the school itself. I think Alabama's the place for me. I think it's the place that's going to develop me as a person and as an athlete," Barnett told Bleacher Report.

Barnett visited Alabama late last week with his family. He was scheduled to visit Oregon later this week, but that may not happen with his commitment to Alabama.

The 6-foot-3, 195-pound Barnett, who stars at Santiago High School, is rated as a 4-star on the 247Sports composite. He gives Alabama its 19th commitment of the 2015 class.

"What people don't see is the mental part of the game, with his leadership and high character," Santiago High School head coach Jeff Steinberg told AL.com. "He's working on his speed development and his quarterback skills, but he's not out there telling everyone about it."

Steinberg said Barnett would be a December graduate and enroll at Alabama in the spring of 2015.

On the 247Sports composite, Barnett is ranked as the No. 65 overall prospect and No. 3 dual-threat quarterback in the country. Alabama runs a pro-style offense, but can use someone with Barnett's mobility.

"No matter what, in this day in age, you need to be able to extend plays," Steinberg said. "The more stuff you can do, the better. He's done work in the shotgun and under center."

Just strolling right into Pac 10 country and snatching their players, nice. First dual threat we've had committed since Blake Sims, this is gonna be interesting to see. I really would like to see our offense with a guy that can be a dual threat but also play in a system ala Russell Wilson.

Pretty sick vid. Some of those moves looked .. dare I say it .. Manzielian. I can almost hear Curly in the background going WOOP WOOP WOOP as he escapes tackles and swerves around. He's got a good arm too. Dunno who the receiver is, but that one catch around 3:40 is pretty crazy.

Birdman I would say no, except that I still don't believe what I saw Manziel do these last two years. Exceptional speed for a kid as tall as he is. His arm makes him a fit for what we do on offense, and then there is
all that running ability. Makes the QB draw a real threat. I wonder what else Kiffin/Saban can cook up to take advantage of his skill set.

When we signed Blake Sims, who was a dual threat QB in high school, all the talk was about him was whether he would be a RB, receiver, or even move over to defense.

I will go way out on a limb and predict that we won't be talking about a position change for Barnett. :D
