Alabama expects to receive signed letters of intent from its three public commitments.
  • 6-9 center Galin Smith of Clinton, Mississippi (classmate of running back recruit Cam Akers),
  • 6-9 power forward Alex Reese of Pelham,
  • 6-6 small forward Herb Jones of Moundville Hale County.

The number I've seen has been five so we're likely looking at two more.

There are two guys to watch for Thursday. Collin Sexton has used the "these are my leaders" with teams like Kansas and Bama. While there's nothing definite, a lot of the Kansas recruiting writers say they are hearing Bama. Word from Bama is they like their changes to sign Sexton.

The second is John Petty which has been a UK and Bama battle (among a few other teams.) Cal may have screwed the pooch here by trying to slow play Petty. Word from Tuscaloosa is like that for Sexton, they really like their chances.

In my opinion, we're going to be chatting about this the next few days in the light of how this class ranks among all the classes at Bama.

FWIW, CAJ is scheduled to appear on ESPN's recruiting show to talk about this years class.

when i first clicked on this thread, i was thinking football (mainly because i didn't read the thread tag saying Basketball). so you can imagine my shock when i read "6-9 center".

i actually had a thought of, "daaaaaaaaaaamn, that's a big-ass guy at center!" but then realizing it was about basketball when i got the next person on the list, there was a tiny, tiny shred of let-down.

but then i started thinking about how good this can be for our basketball team.

Petty may not like being slow played by the Wildcats and with their offer sheet, I want to believe Petty's state of mind is a lot more Crimson these days. Anyway, signing in November has pushed everyone's chips to the middle of the table.
