I’m not familiar with this dude, but this was his first win. I just happened to tune it for the final 3 laps (only the final lap was under green)… which is about the only way I view NASCAR… the last couple of laps if nothing else is worth watching at the time. Anyway, dude took the victory lap to the next level…

We used to hit the Daytona 500 every year (dad and grandfather were big fans). As a kid I went to 12-13 consecutive 500’s. Would hit Atlanta and talladega every couple years.
Most memorable one was in ā€˜81. Petty’s last 500 win, we left a few mins early and got out of the crowd as the race ended. Two guys in the parking lot were fighting over who won. One of them had a ripped open beer can, and had sliced the other guys face to pieces. As we walked by (didn’t get toooo close), they stopped fighting to ask who won. šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚
Turns out, it was two brothers!!!!

That victory lap reminded me of Earnhardt cleaning his own windshield during a caution at Richmond in 86. NeckCar used to be awesome. The France boys got too greedy and it cost them the sport. When Jeff Gordon came along......he was pretty and clean and an excellent spokesperson. Nascar decided they wanted nothing but a garage full of them. In doing so, you ostracized your base and now they are paying dearly.

I can remember the peak of the mid to late 90's as Nascar boomed........there was a waiting list for Daytona and Bristol. They dang sure fixed that problem.
