First, let me give a little perspective...

After the Florida win in '05, I was ready to believe that we were back. In hindsight though, most of our scoring from that game came from big, momentum plays. The long pass to Pro, the quick slant to KB, the int ran back inside the 5. One could theoretically look at that game and say we just got lucky, ALOT. Now on to this game...

One is awfully tempted to use the word domination to describe this game. And, if you did describe it like that, no one would argue with you. But, maybe just to be different, I am going to choose to describe this game as methodical. What I saw was a methodical approach to a complete and total dismantling of an opposing team.

There were few, if any plays that could be described as momentum changing. What I saw was a team that brought their lunch pale and went to work. They had a plan and executed it brilliantly. Nothing flashy. Nothing fancy. Just a good, old fashioned here we are, here is what we are gonna do. They knew that, I knew that, but it didn't matter. They finished. They did not let up when they got ahead by 21, they did not let up when CU ran back the opening kick in the 2nd half. I saw the effort of our players, not just in the game, but in the 4th quarter program, summer skels, spring practice, and fall camp. We flat out out worked CU.

That, my friends, was the process in action.

In the coming weeks, it will be very hard not to get excited. I now know that my team can finish a game, and I await to see if they can finish a season. I firmly believe they can. And, the inner child in me knows they will. I have not felt this way about the team in many, many years. I am not sure how to react. I now know that we can beat anybody left on our schedule. I know expect to beat anybody on our schedule. I don't expect to go undefeated and play for the MNC, but I know our team is capable. It has been way too long since i had that feeling, and it is nice to have it back.

Its amazing what a simple process can do.
