Ok So...........

A-Day was fantastic. had a blast over at the Quad with all our folks here from RTB. The whole set up was fantastic. The food was fantatic. and defenatly made the day more memorable. Not not quite as much as what happned AFTER the game. :frown:

I Split about 11 to head over to BDS for the 7on7 game. Didn't want to miss seeing Tyrone Prothro playing again. Was probly one of the highlights of the day.
When i left the quad...i left with the intention of comming back over after the game. So when the crowd started leaving and making thier way out i wanderd around a bit (1/2 hr) to let a little traffic die off and made my way to the car to see if i could ease back over to the Quad and find a better parking spot near were everything was set up so i wouldn't have to make the 8 block trek behind the Math Building where i parked behind the south end zone.

I parked on 12th Ave. Between the side walk and the chain link fence. Usually theres a line of RV's set up behind that fence in the parking lot behind the math building. This is the same place i parked for the IB.
And for 2 blocks there are cars parked on the grass lined up & down that fence behind the sidewalk.

So imagine my surprise when i arrive to where i parked my 06 Pontiac to find empty grass!:headscratch:
Did i park further down? No it was here.

Now when i pulled up the older white lady with one of those yellow Game day smocks from UA game day stoped a car from parking on the steet there. And told them they could park behind me behind the side walk.

to make a long story short..i COMPLETLY FREAKED OUT. I panicked.
after flagging down TPD they confimrd my car had been towed along with 4 others. Yet all the reaminder 30 somthing cars had been left intact.
When the rather LARGE Sgt. arrived to explain the situation and why he had had it removed....it was because it was on the side walk.

Wait for it.......

BY TWO INCHES!

WTF!!!!!! So ya tow my car away with out of town plates, and alabama stuff hanging all over it. Becuse my tires are TOUCHING the side walk.
Not on it, but TOUCHING IT. :swear:

So here i am with like 40 bucks to my name, and no car. No wallet, becuse IT's in the car. Along WITH THE KEYS.
I'm not in the best financial shape at the moment. So when i get told that theres nothing TPD can do or will do to help....
On top of that....it cost me 145.00 to get my car back. Plus taxi fee. all of which i had to have wired to me from my uncle. And trust me when i say that i would have rather swallowed a live hand granade than call that man and ask for help. I'll never live it down.

What was suposed to be an inexpensive day of fun and relaxation enjoying a day with freinds and suppoerting my team wound up costing me over 200.00, not counting what i spent in gas & on campus. Belive me when i tell ya...this was the LAST thing i needed.

However i learned 2 very valuable lessons.

1. Be carefull where you park on campus.
2. Tuscaloosa PD are :a:ssholes.

I will now spend the summer researching the best place to park this fall, when to get there, what to do & NOT to do.

and on top of it all.....i got a 50.00 parking ticket.
I hope the City Atty in Tuscaloosa doesnt have bashfull ears, becuse the words he's gonna hear from me 1st thing tommorow morning.......
I have a court date in may forthe parking ticket....looks like i'll be make another trip back over. I'm fighting this one.

Killin' a fly with a hammer.

What did towing a car do that the parking ticket did not do? Mind you, it could have just as easily been stranding a mom with children. Stranding a Mom with young children...no diapers, no medicine, no formula...is exactly the situation that the city of Tuscaloosa needs to create. Or what if it were someone with an elderly parent in a wheel chair or a walker? Can you say EASY TARGET AFTER DARK?

No offense brother, but two inches or two feet, you can't claim that you were right. But the other point, the bigger point, is that the punishment was too big for the offense...too reckless.

Heck, even if the ticket was the cost as the towing, it still would have prevented a potentially dangerous situation. I would ask that City attourney to explain how parking two inches on a sidewalk is more dangerous that stranding folks. I suspect that his answer will be crap.

I would also write the Mayor...taking the concerned angle...and well as the Tuscaloosa News and the Athletic Department of the UA.

Hate that all happened, but I'd take the concerned angle as well. I would definitely let your aggravation be known, but I would save any harsh language. If it's perceived as a power struggle between them and you guess who will win every time?

Yeah well Obviously they didn't notice the HANDICAP tag hanging from the Mirror. I COULD have parked in a handicap ZONE but didn't since my little brother was NOT with me. THANK GOD.

They either didn't notice or didn't care.

and i will be calling the AU atheletic Dept. for thier opinion on it.
No fault of thiers....but maybe they could have some input.

That blows, we got there early enough to actually find a parking spot, I would be livid, however I must ask what is AU's athletic dept gonna do? I would suggest calling UA :p:hyper:

Which tow company was it? Cause if its Bambarger!!!!! I know their number by heart! They towed me about 5 years ago (from a a spot I literally had parked in for close to 10 years) Im slowing recouping my $175 fee by pranking these A$$es! My car was not actually even towed as I saw the guy hooking up to it. He dropped it for $175 (told me it was $250 at the lot)

Also these towing companies will hire college kids to walk around campus and find illegally parked cars and then radio them in to be towed! :bs:

Doesn't surprise me they have got to be making a killing moneywise. We parked over by the Museum. It had signs that said public parking lot. I am paranoid so we had to walk a little bit, but at least I knew the truck would be there when we got back.

Sorry to hear about that though:frown: Hope it all works out, that does seem pretty harsh though.

I had the exact same thing happen to me last season. In what sounds like the exact same spot. My wife was pregnant so I demanded the nearest cop call and get me an escort. It sucked. Just like you said, I had to come off roughly 150.00 which i didnt have on me to get my car out of the impound which happend to be next to publix. After a late game and having to find my car, I didnt get back home here in Phenix City until around 3 in the morning. Definetly a situation I hope to never live again!!

Amen and amen!
A few years ago, my daughter and I came up to A-Day. Went out on Friday night to get something to eat and was involved in a four-car wreck. Some idiot ran a red light coming out of 37th St onto McFarland and hit me in the left rear quarter and knocked me sideways. I shot across the oncoming lanes, clipping a third car that flew back against the fourth. The TPD's final report had me at fault. I went all the way to the Chief, who happened to be a hunting buddy of a guy who used to work at the newspaper here in Morgan City. He said, "I'll have to side with my "investigation team." Luckily, no one was ticketed, but the car I was driving was totaled. And, I didn't get to see the dang game.
