OK, remember how I gave Coach Saban the oatmeal creme pies from my kids? Immediately he asked for their address and said he wanted to send them something. I told him not to worry and that they didn't give them to get something back. Again, he insisted.
I didn't tell the kids because I know how busy Coach Saban is and how focused he is on much more important things. I thought there is no way he is going to remember 3 kids and a box of oatmeal creme pies on the way home from Lexington.
Well, not 3 days later and a beautiful box with the Alabama A and a return address of "Alabama Football" is waiting on my door step. You should have seen their eyes! They tore into it like it was Christmas. I made sure they knew it was nothing I ordered.
Inside was an autographed hat, picture and media guide. You just don't know how excited they were (and I won't even comment about me
). I mean here is a $4 million coach that took the time to say thanks to my kids for a $3 box of Little Debbies. I was really impressed (and yes, I know someone else actually boxed it, sent it, etc...) He didn't have to do any of that though.
So, for all those that say he's a jerk you try convincing my kids of that. It won't fly with them.
