šŸˆ MWC, this is Boise State, I Miss You

Boise State could be forced to make a quick choice between the two conferences because the Mountain West and CBS have agreed to restructure their television deal, CBSSports.com reported Friday, citing anonymous sources.

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p>How badly does TV want to destroy the Big East? CBS basically devalued its own deal with the MWC to make it happen.</p>&mdash; Dan Wolken (@DanWolken) <a href="https://twitter.com/DanWolken/status/282301457523433472" data-datetime="2012-12-22T01:48:07+00:00">December 22, 2012</a></blockquote>

Now with that in mind, consider this.

NBCSN lost the Pac12 recently and were left a package of the MWC, Ivy, and the CAA. From 2011 to this year they saw their viewership drop a whopping 71%.

Not only does CBS want this done, you can guarantee yourself NBC is on the prayer rail right beside them.

Why wouldn't they leave? Outside of the possible BCS bid for football—which of course disappears next season—they were part of the "other five" whether in the Big East or MWC. Simply logistics say, "Stay in the MWC."

UCONN should have jumped from the Big East a long, long time ago. If Boise State stays that conference is D.O.N.E.

Boise State has been trying to leverage the best deal out of both conferences, something industry sources said may backfire on the Broncos.

"Boise reminds me of the teenage recruit who is starting to believe he's the biggest star in town," a source said. "It might be a pretty big letdown when all is said and done. Actually the sentiment of 'who do they think they are' is starting to seep into conversations with folks across college football.

"Let's remember this isn't Alabama, or even Texas Tech, we're talking about. This sorry episode is starting to make it seem like Boise is one of the power assets in college football. In reality their value is relative to the conference they belong to."

Rightfully so when you see this...

Boise State is trying to get the Big East and Mountain West to allow the Broncos to retain their home television rights, to guarantee which conference the school ends up in, sources told ESPN.

I realize both conferences are desperately trying to keep their heads above water. But geez...

Leave 'em out in the cold and let them go independent.

ESPN updates the story...

This is just getting embarrassing .. Broncos, when you are fighting between the MWC and the Big East, doesn't that say enough? :icon_confused:

And the names of these conferences drive me bonkers anymore. Big Ten with 14 members (in 2014). Big 12 with 10. Big East with a crap ton of new far west teams. Blah. The Big East needs a new identity.

Hopefully the commissioner of the MWC realizes he's in the drivers seat, not Boise State. Something my dad told me years ago, "deal from power, not weakness".

Supposedly SDSU is talking about staying in the Big East - deciding to go to an east coast league is just stupid, staying there is equally dumb.
