Well, the only problem I have with that, and btw, right now this is really a discussion of things that are so specific I doubt many of them matter one bit, but do you not think that the Florida program now, the program that has just hired a bonafide D-Coordinator in Will Muschamp (as in, its not a guy that has been a HC for years now like Saban was, it's a guy in Muschamp that will still think EXACTLY like a D Coordinator would) will not be thought of as Muschamp's Defense? See (I hope this all makes sense) but I would actually think next year's Defense for Florida will actually be thought of as more of the HC's than Alabama's will be. I think Kirby gets a TON of credit for putting that defense together at Alabama, sure there's always "Lets see what Saban can concoct on this third down," but I think Kirby will get more credit for what kind of Defense Alabama has than he would for Floridas... and plus I think Bama's defense will be better than Floridas, though I really have no idea about Florida's, I just know Bama's will be good. THEREFORE, I think Kirby's proverbial stock rises greater at Bama than it would for Florida. And I do think Kirby hits the road after NEXT year, obviously if he's not already gone after this one.

Nope, you make perfect sense as well. My thought on the UF situation would be that Muschamp would be so overwhelmed with everything else that Kirby might get most of that credit for himself. A new head coach will be learning on the job, I wouldn't think he'd have time to specialize.

I really don't think he could be faulted for either move he makes. Not a bad position to be in, in my opinion.

But you're right, it surely won't be the end of the world nor a HUGE SLAP IN THE FACE, like people are saying, but the guy's good, I mean he's a very hot commodity right now and they're saying its a slap in the face due to the fact that, I mean, he owes much of his success to Saban, do you disagree? But to expand on the slap in the face idea tho, remember, if that occurred, it would be an Alabama D-coordinator leaving to go be the D-coordinator at Florida-- its leaving to go do the same job at a rival school. But in the end, we'd be fine, and we may even get someone better than Smart that recruits better... but it'd be a minor, and maybe just very very minor, setback.

You are probably right. I remember seeing somewhere that they actually played together at Georgia and took it for the truth. Either way though, you make some good points.

And for the record, Travis Reier is apparently "tweeting" that Kirby and Bo Davis will remain at Alabama.

Meh...if he goes he goes. I just do not understand why people panic over coaches leaving or taking another job....there are plenty of other people out there to fill the positions. Saban runs the ship,and I do not think it would be a slap in the face....more like a person doing what they think is best for them. Doubt Saban has a problem with that.

Well it is Kirby's career not Saban's....and lateral depends on the money he is offered.
No I am not kidding. His life, his career. He can do it, it is not against the law....or against ethical or moral standards. Florida is not a rival. We do not see them every year.

I dont know if this has already been posted or not, but I think it is worth saying that in his introductory presser CWM did say very very firmly that no official job offers have been made by the University of Florida. So, we know that UF has not officially offered Kirby anything, tho that still doesnt rule out the idea that Kirby has talked about the job with Muschamp...

Agreed! This is just not about "football loyality" for these guys. It's about real life and pay checks. LOL!
