🏈 Multiple SMU players plan to sit out the rest of season with intention to preserve their redshirt year and enter the transfer portal

From that tweet above:

Yeah, ME right here, right now doesn't always seem to be a good plan in the long run.

Thats the problem...ncaa wont make it harder for sake ofgame...they make it easier....who the hell put people in charge that wont protect game....
Sacrificing game for sake of a few whiny players...

And...they want more balance and level playing field....and make rules that favor teams like bama....

Like our country and congress....the ncaa is run by a bunch of idiots....

And another aspect of the new era.....
How bout the new lsu coach walking out on his ND team before season was even over...
Kinda being glossed over....a kid does it...and news hammers him...HC does it...
All forgotten.."its just business"

That's also a correlation to the way public schools are run these days, but that's another thread for another time.

It looks like it's a total of four players, which fits the "multiple" headline, but only one has been significant contributor. The portal gives, and the portal takes away, but this is not armageddon.

I'm curious how an institution should treat a kid who quits midseason. Personally, I would decide that he'd be out of any athletic-specific dorm, activity, benefit or training facility.

RTR,

Tim

Mrs. O'Leary screams, "It's only the barn!"

Remember the pitch, "we offer four year scholarships."

They have the school by the balls; signed contracts.

Don't contracts require both parties to perform?

Not related to your post, @TerryP but in relation to a common theme in this thread - this "kids these days" generational standardization is lazy. It's as lazy as saying every baby boomer was self-absorbed, moving from revolt to revision to recreation. There are hard working, responsible adults from every generation. There were slackers, dropouts, dopeheads, bums, beggars, spongers - pick your characterization - since time began, and certainly it's been a constant since WWII. Single parents, expansion of social programs, it's not just schools, but every generation - including the current one - is full of heroes and success stories.

All that being said, we have a great nation that will continue to thrive. If we were headed to hell, we'd long since gotten there.

by the balls;
Speaking of balls ...
Got room for a second?
Do you have the balls? Mine have shrunk back in my body a few times on the reservoir: big ass gators. A good friend of mine has a Hobie I'm this close to buying. I've been out on it several dozen times and to this day hearing those growls send chills up my spine.

Let me tell ya...the boy is an angler. Not a fisherman, an angler. He won the state wide tourney for bass a couple of times last year. I think his last was five fish at 104"...and that was a little short of some months.

I've been gator hunting and taken one down, but never fished with gator, ha ha. Probably not willing to do a hobie with gators swimming around unless I had a gun and knives on me, and then would still need to think about it.
