Cody was in Gadsden yesterday offering Autrographs to the public from 12 till 4 along with Daniel Moore. Can you believe that he was selling his autographs for $20 dollars a pop. It wasn't proceeded to charity either. Can you explain to me why someone who is going to be making millions would feel the need to make money off of hard working Alabama fans? What do you guys think?

We escorted him to the location, but I didn't see him or get his autograph. And I agree, 20 bucks an autograph was too much. But, he made a killing on the residents of Gadsden.

more power to him. I'm not sure I would pay $20 for his signature, but if others do, then I guess it was worth it. Now if I could get signatures from the entire 2009 team for $500 bucks, I would probably do it :)

I hope he has enough money at the end of it all to help smooth over all the aches and pains of playing professional football - the game doesn't last long for most, but the aches will always be there. being a big man just means more aches/pains.

That'll sure win the hearts of Bama fans (sarcasm):lance:. He rolled in for only two years, was only one (maybe 1.5) of many super players, and played one of the most flashiless (invented a word there I think) positions. In twenty years when he is no longer playing will he be revered (sp?)? Will he be remembered?

I just fail to see how someone about to cash a multi million dollar check could be party to looking a working mom or dad in the eyes and say "I'd be glad to sign this for Tiny Tim, but only it will cost you $20."

$20 will feel a family this evening. He will tip a valet $20 before summer, and not think twice about it.

That was just sad, and I'm disappointed.

First off, alot of places pay a player to come and sign autographs for a certain amount and then that place is actually the one that charges the price for the autograph. That's typically how it goes. But second, you dont like it, dont get one. That aint that hard and I could care less. It absolutely has no barring on how I feel about Cody and I'm fairly confident that 90% of Bama fans feel that way. Not like Cody hasn't signed plenty of FREE autographs in the past either.

will he be remembered as the guy who blocked that fieldgoal against tennessee the year bama won the national championship?? uhhh yea... that was one of the most memorable moments in my life as a bama fan.. deffinately top 10.. first year we were SUPPOSED to win a championship in 30 years.. he was the difference between a championship and a choke..

If you don't like it don't spend your $20, but who are you to say he shouldn't do it. There are plenty of fans out there that probably think $20 is a great deal for his autograph and were very willing to pay it.

As stated earlier, these guys are given a fee to come to these places and sign autographs for the fans. The business owner is making the money with the player getting a cut. This serves as a boost for that business owner. I don't have a problem with that kid earning a little money since he hasn't had any in his pocket and he won't have any in his pocket until after he is drafted in April. A local business owner in Childersburg has been having players come in since the end of January. The guys have received a little money while the owner has gotten the most.

and alot of this is because once a person gets the autograph on something turn around and sell it on ebay. I have taken pictures at some of things like this before and heard the person tell the person signing to just sign their name and nothing else

Bingo.

Also, where was he signing? Sometimes the venue gets a cut of the money. I used to setup security at a local hobby shop in VA while I was in the Army. I know the shop owner got a portion of the autograph sales and the sports star got the other part.

I dont mind celebs/sports people charging for autographs. Like Doe said most of these end up for sale and someone else makes $$ off of it. So why not the person signing. $20 isnt bad. Try Marino, Montana, or even Namath at a sanctioned event. $200+ for small items and it gets higher if you want a jersey signed. Thats bad!

I have gone to a couple of these with my son. He has had his BCS title game hat signed and I have a ball that I have had signed. My intentions are to put it up as a keepsake in my "man" cave with my other sports memorabilia. I don't have a problem with it but as Doe stated, there are alot that turn right around and put it on Ebay.

My uncle drove to Gadsden to see him. My uncle has been out of work for a while and by no means could afford to get an autograph. My uncle said he was one of the nicest guys youll ever meet. My uncle also game him a book that he has had for some time now.

All fame is fleeting. Gotta strike while the iron is hot. To all of the belly achers...........how much job related free crap do you provide? Quit yer bitching.

At a game Shula's last year I paid $25 for a football and gave Big John Copeland $10 to sign it and a pic of a knocked out Stan White with him standing over him and it was a bargain to see my son's face when when John handed it to him, shook his hand and called him "Big Kahuna".
