šŸˆ "MSESPN Pulls Asian Announcer Named Robert Lee Off UVa Game To Avoid Offending Idiots.

Considering who broke the story, the network he's also covering college football for, and some of the statement? Yah, part of it is reasonable.
While it's perfectly logical to question the motives behind the decision, it's also perfectly logical Travis caught this and made it into the spectacle it is...purely because he works for the rival network.

But what kind of precedent has it set? Can the guy ever cover a Virginia sporting event again, if we wanna knock it down to that close proximity due to the event.

You are 100% doing what Travis wanted (being outraged over a nothing story), so I guess congrats to him. He got EXACTLY what he wanted. Everyone is screaming about being PC and everyone being offended, while in turn being offended about this whole thing themselves... And ESPN hasn't banned the dude from anything. They pulled him from this one event, considering Charlottesville JUST happened, and Travis somehow got his hands on the info (or a piece of it) and has turned it into what it is. 3 weeks from now no one will remember nor care. So, in essence, ESPN created exactly what they were ATTEMPTING to avoid: turned their commentator into an internet meme. Emotions are at a peak right now in terms of race, the south, history, etc., Travis saw an opening and exploited it (which is probably his biggest attribute next to trolling).

And I'm supposed to be outraged at Travis? Who cares what his motive was? When hasn't ESPN taken every opportunity to offer their own brand of political correctness ad nauseam? If Travis calls them out for who they are, so be it. I kinda enjoy doing that every once and awhile myself. As far as Mr. Lee is concerned, he's Asian, and we're not that dumb, really, we'll figure it out.

Their reasoning was bullshit, br honest with yourself. Foresaw memes? Give me a break. It's beyong pathetic this is even an issue for any reason. Hey kid, we're gonna put you elsewhere after putting you on this one because your name is foreseen as racist.

And no, I'm not writing crap on Facebook, Instagram, Yahoo, AOL, or anywhere else. I will wake up tomorrow and most likely not think twice about it cause bullshit like this doesn't run my life, I have just taken five minutes of my day to call out some BS as I see it. So no, he's not getting what he wants. And let's turn the table and say your boss refuses to allow you to cover Alabama because your name offends people, and see how you feel.

I didnt tell you to be outraged at everything and Travis didnt "point out" anything. He did it to get a rise out of people. And I dont think you guys even are understanding what the ESPN exec said their reasoning was. It wasnt that people "couldnt figure it out", it was they didnt want their commentator made into a joke (Hey look at the Asian named Robert Lee harharharhar).

That's your opinion and yes he is getting EXACTLY what he wants. People are whining and acting outraged over this story. And again the ending of your post... you still aren't understanding their reasoning even though you call it bullshit. No one said his name offended people (other than Travis), they didnt want their commentator turned into a joke...

And if I was in his shoes, I would be pissed and say F those guys if they want to make a joke out of it. I've never once said I agreed with them pulling him, I said I understand the reasoning and its not the way certain people are portraying it.

Well, he's famous now, what will ESPN do? Could it be even remotely possible that ESPN has overreacted and continues to under estimate the common sense of the audience? By a country mile? Perhaps Mr. Lee is going to inherit a level of fame and notoriety as a sport's personality that his agent could only dream about.

Well while they tried to "maybe" not make him a joke they served him and themselves up on a silver platyer for criticism. Not something you would expect from executives of a billion dollar company.

An opportunity maybe?

the one in Jasper Al. has got some damn good chicken. :-)

There is no logical reason to have done this. None. People have lost their fucking minds. This poor guy is now getting obliterated on the internet when just 24 hours ago nobody knew who the fuck he was, nor did they care. ESPN continues to play to a small, albeit loud, segment of the population while the majority of their viewers sit scratching their heads and saying "What? Why?". I'm like a couple of others have already stated...tomorrow I'll get up and go about my business and laugh at the memes of this poor bastard without giving a rat's ass who would've been triggered by an Asian guy calling a meaningless football game in a town made famous by two groups of illiterate, brain dead shitbirds. Damn, just act like fucking adults.

Non-story meant to rile up the simpletons. It's a one time change, mutually agreed to, in order to protect an employee in the wake of a woman being murdered by neo-nazis.

People need to keep their eye on the ball. ESPN is not the villain here.

Well, I guess we should just be thankful that we have conspiracy theorist of your caliber, able to breakdown with such profound eloquence and intellectual detail where we all went wrong.

I have no interest in arguing with you on this. Read ESPN's statement, the reasons for the change and make your own decision. It seems pretty clear cut to most people with a reasonable amount of intelligence and common sense.

What exactly would suggest to you that I haven't read that drivel? This seems to be where your talking points start and stop. What poll are you referring to that makes it so "clear cut" with the in the know crowd? I'm thinking you're heavily invested in Disney stock.

The change of broadcasting assignment is not the issue. Yes, this happens all the time. It's the reason for the change. It was made simply because his name is SIMILAR to a leader of the Confederate army and ESPN thought that this similarity would cause a problem. Robert Lee didn't raise the issue and request a meeting with ESPN management. ESPN raised the issue and requested a meeting to get Lee to agree with a change. After the recent firings by ESPN, do you think Lee (a low man on the broadcaster totem pole) would disagree with management? If there were any memes about Lee broadcasting the game, I guarantee you that they would be humorous and poke fun at the coincidence.

Thank goodness you're supremely intelligent to round all us simpletons up and teach us the error of our ways. Nothing worse than someone that thinks they're smarter than everyone else in the room. Pathetic actually. I have a sneaky suspicion if you are as smart as you think you are, you wouldn't be on this forum.
