Here's an older article, but it has overall records while as SEC coach and conference wins at the bottom. Spurrier shows at 131 between the reptiles and the chickens. Cole was showing wins at a single school. Saban will own the overall record very soon if you toss in LSU.

It's interesting that the guy from that list to last coach a game, other than Nick Saban, is Vince Dooley. He coached his last game in 1988.

From 1988 to now, no coach, again other than Nick Saban, has stayed at a school long enough to amass any type of winning record to make it on that list. I guess it comes with the times, though. Today, most coaches are all about the next job...the next school...or the NFL. Most of them aren't looking to stay at a school for almost their entire career as a head coach.

Also, I remember reading about Coach Bryant and how much he was getting paid. He said he always thought a coach shouldn't get paid more than the university president. So he always made less than the school's president at that time. He made most of his money through endorsements (much like Coach Saban does; although we all know that Coach Saban makes a HELLUVA lot more than the UA president).

Saban makes more from UA in a month than Bell does all year.

IMO, they shouldn't count as SEC wins. At that time, they were in SWC so they should get counted towards THAT conference.

Catching and passing Coach Bryant here at BAMA just might be that one record that Saban actually has his eyes on. I still think he wants to stretch his lead on the number of Nattys but “Most wins at one school” is a testament to longevity and success!!

@sk33tr It will be interesting to see how Kirby does over the years. I can see him being content to coach his alma mater till retirement. He has already been at UGA for 8 years.

I have mentioned on here how coaches seem to hit a lull around the 15 year mark. Phat Phil at UT (16 years), Mack Brown at UTx (15 years). Dabo Swinney CU (14 years) We haven't seen the fall off that these 3 schools had, but by Saban Standards, we have had a lull last year.

How does Kirby handle this as the game changes? He has the potential to break a lot of SEC records for how young and successful he has been so far...... Gonna be interesting to see how it plays out.

I've heard even at his son's travel baseball games he's disengaged, doesn't say a word to anyone, and is a loner. While I can understand from the standpoint of hearing every question under the sun from annoying fans, I was told by our old neighbor whose son plays on the same team that his son and Kirby's son both hit home runs (over the fence) in the same game together and they were taking pictures afterwards and Kirby refused to be in the picture. I thought that was pretty pathetic, but it shows a little more insight into your comments.

He's proven to be far more than a flash in the pan, but remaining relevant separates the good, the great, and the legendary.
