🏈 Mizzou's QB Franklin not playing vs Bama

Out of the five games I played yesterday, taking Mizzou -7 was the only one I lost.

Considering how much some of the comments from their players, coaches, and fans have grated on my nerves since they've been in the SEC...I wasn't upset at all I lost money on the game. In fact, considering they lost to Vandy, I actually laughed a little.
I've watched Franklin play in a few games this year and I haven't seen anything that led me to believe his "heart" was in it at all. Perhaps it's just his style, but he seemed almost lackadaisical out there.

Comparing the results of Franklin and Berkstresser, I don't see a clear line of demarcation. They've both been very average this season.

It's another game where we:

Focus on stopping the run.
Play solid, fundamental football on offense.
Let them try to beat us through the air.

The busiest people in prep for this game during the week are likely to be the CBS research staff. They'll be looking for filler material for Gary and Verne to cover the second half.

I'll be honest here, I expected a whole lot more from Mizzou than what they've showed thus far. Now, I wasn't expecting them to pull out an SEC Championship in their first year or even win the East...but I thought they'd play most of the east to close games. At the very least beat Vandy.

So much for that idea. What's the story on their backup QB?

He's started two games now, Arizona State and now Bama - played a few games already (Vanderbilt, South Carolina, and Southeastern Louisiana).

Overall, Corbin Berkstresser ( 6'3", 235lbs) he's completed 50% of his throws - 42 of 84 for 501 yds - 3 TDs, 1 INT, and been sacked 3 times.

I'd expect him to give up 2 INT's and 3-5 sacks on Saturday - he's a Freshman and he's gonna have his hands full. I'd imagine they run the ball more than average to take some of the pressure off him.

Sucks, I wanted to see how our defense would have done against a guy of his physical stature

Perhaps my observations are skewed because of his off-season injury and subsequent surgery. I don't know. I really didn't watch much of Mizzou last year to be able to compare this season to last.

He's a statue in the pocket. He doesn't sell a running play well. He does have a quick release. Running the ball? He looks like Matt Jones (Arkansas) but doesn't seem to cover ground as quickly.

There really hasn't been a QB we've faced that I can compare him with—and that's thinking back over a decade or more. Honestly, even if he was at 100% I don't see him as that threat and don't see a imposing physical stature.

Pre-season, in our little "poll" here, I had them as a 2-6 team tied with Vandy for the fifth place in the Eastern Div. I haven't seen anything that changes that opinion other than the growing chance they'll have sixth place all to themselves—IF they can beat UK.

A&M comes in quietly with a lot of respect for other teams. Mizzou comes in loudly with a braggadocious attitude.

A&M has earned their respect this year. Mizzou? Not so much.

Yep, Mizzou was getting their better predictions based strictly on the volume coming out of that place.

Hate it for the guy. That helmet to the knee looked rough.

But...I don't care who is back there. I want us to come out like gang busters and knock them hard in the mouth for a full 60 minutes.

I've had my withdrawals this weekend and ready for some Bama ball!!! :a:
