🏈 Mind blowing Bama stat of the day

I found this over on BOL. We all knew it, but seeing it makes it ring just a little more true.

Has a conference division ever been this good over a five year period?

Consider this:

-Every single program in the West has finished in the top 11 of the AP Poll (Mississippi St finished #11 in 2014, everyone else had a top 10 finish) at least once in the last five years. I doubt another division can even match that over a five year period.

-SECW teams played in four of the last five NC games, winning three of them. And actually five SECW teams total played in the NC game over the last five years (Bama in 2011, 2012, 2015; LSU in 2011; AU in 2010).

-Three different SECW teams played for NCs over the last five years.

-SECW teams finished in the top five of the AP Poll eight times in the last five years. That includes Bama 4x, AU once, LSU once, Arkansas once, and A&M once. In other words, five of the seven teams in the SECW finished in the top five at least once in the last five years.

-SECW had eight Heisman finalists over the last five years, at least one in each year, and they won two of them.

-----------------------------------------

And lest you think I cherry picked the last five years, if we go back two more years to start in 2009, the SECW adds two more NCs and two more Heisman winners.

So again, serious question, has there ever been a conference division that strong over a 5-6 year period?
