Miles head football coach Sam Shade named head coach at Alabama A&M
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) - Miles head football coach Sam Shade has been announced as the new head coach at Alabama A&M, A&M announced Sunday afternoon.
Shade recently finished his 3rd year at Miles where he guided the team to an 8-2 record, the SIAC championship, and to the university’s first ever NCAA D2 playoff win before they fell to top ranked Valdosta State in the second round.
“This is a new and exciting time to bring Coach Sam Shade to the Hill,” said Alabama A&M Director of Athletics Dr. Paul A. Bryant.. “He brings a wealth of knowledge and proven success to a program ready to thrive. His vast resources in the State and impeccable relationships with his team made him the perfect candidate for Alabama A&M University.”
After playing collegiately at Alabama, where he was a member of the 1992 national championship team, Shade played in the NFL for eight years before becoming a coach.
As a coach, Shade has made stops at all levels (high school, NCAA, NFL) before becoming the head coach at Pinson Valley High School where he led the school to an AHSAA 6A state title in 2020.
Shade finishes his time at Miles with a overall record of 18-15.
