Here are some observations from the limited access period provided to the media:

-- Defensive lineman Stephon Wynn was in a black, non-contact jersey and standing near his position group. Wynn suffered a ligament strain in his knee during fall camp and Alabama coach Nick Saban said the freshman will start practicing this week. Fellow defensive lineman Johnny Dwight, who did not play Saturday, was also spotted.

-- Linebacker Mack Wilson had his right foot wrapped. He suffered a Jones fracture in that same foot last season.

-- Freshman outside linebacker Jarez Parks was back practicing. He hasn't played in the first two games and was home in Florida last week after suffering a death in the family, according to Saban.

Monday Insider Report on Alabama Crimson Tide football | BamaInsider.com

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Alabama returned to the practice field Monday as players began their initial preparations for Saturday’s game against Ole Miss in Oxford, Miss. Players were in shorts and shells for the workout as they practiced outside in cloudy, 79-degree weather. Here are some notes from the media viewing period.

— As announced by head coach Nick Saban earlier in the day, defensive lineman Stephon Wynn was back at practice Monday. Wynn was wearing a black, no-contact jersey and had a large brace on his right leg.

“It's too early to tell whether he'll be healthy enough to be able to use him in the game,” Saban said.

— Mack Wilson led the inside linebackers during individual drills and was followed by Dylan Moses, Markail Benton, Joshua McMillon, Ale Kaho and Jaylen Moody.

— After his first drill, Wilson had to get his right foot taped. However, he was able to return to drills shortly after and didn’t appear to be affected.

— Alabama line up with its normal grouping on the offensive line. Saban was asked about the unit earlier in the day.

“The offensive line, I think at times has shown really good execution and been physical, but I think a little more consistency in that area would be something that we’d all target and try to improve on,” Saban said. “Fundamental execution, finishing blocks, being a little bit more physical at the line of scrimmage and on a more consistent basis is the way I would sort of categorize those guys to this point.”

— Outside linebacker Jarez Parks was back at practice Monday after leaving the team due to a death in the family. Anfernee Jennings led the unit followed by Christian Miller, Jamey Mosley, Ben Davis, Parks, Cameron Latu and Eyabi Anoma.

— Anoma was also getting his foot wrapped during the end of the viewing period. He looked fine during individual drills.

— Injured outside linebacker Terrell Lewis was seen working out in the gym before practice

-- Backup offensive lineman Scott Lashley wasn't present during the open portion of practice. With him out, Chris Owens was at left tackle and Richie Petitbon was at right tackle with the second-team offensive line. Freshman Emil Ekiyor was the second-team center.

-- The first-team dime secondary consisted of Saivion Smith and Patrick Surtain at cornerback, Trevon Diggs at nickel back, Xavier McKinney at dime back and Deionte Thompson and Shyheim Carter at safety. The second-team secondary had Josh Jobe and Nigel Knott at cornerback, Kyriq McDonald and Jared Mayden at the two inside spots and then Daniel Wright and Keaton Anderson at safety. Freshman Eddie Smith was shadowing Wright.

-- Redshirt freshman wide receiver Chadarius Townsend is working with the scout team.

-- Freshmen outside linebackers Eyabi Anoma and Jarez Parks were shadowing Anfernee Jennings and Jamey Mosley during drills.
