Michigan head football coach Brady Hoke has suspended starting running back Fitzgerald Toussaint following a DUI arrest over the weekend. In a statement, Hoke said Toussaint is suspended from the team indefinitely. Michigan opens the 2012 season against Alabama in Dallas, Texas.

"There are expectations that come with being a football student-athlete at the University of Michigan and those responsibilities were not met in this instance," Hoke said in the statement. "We will use this as an opportunity to educate Fitz and make sure he understands the high standards that we have established within our program."

Toussaint, who rushed for 1,041 yards and 9 touchdowns last season, was named to the watch list for the Maxwell Award last week.

Brady Hoke has always been a stiff discipline guy, so if Hoke thinks Fitz isn't doing the things to get back on the field then he won't be back on the field. But, I think he plays against us only because he does what is expected of him and he earns his way back.

I've seen people point to Darryl Stonum (sp?) as evidence he won't allow Toussaint back for the first game. Both are/were DUI cases and Stonum was kicked off the team. But, with his case, it was his second DUI and that last one came when he was already on probation for the first.

I glanced over some of the Michigan forums yesterday and a good majority are saying they don't expect him to travel to Dallas.

All that said, DUI's can be so different from one case to another. You've got situations like Brandon Spikes who—by police accounts—fell asleep at the wheel at a stop light and was suspended. Then, you've got cases where someone has a few drinks and doesn't feel like they are over the legal limit by any means and then blow a positive.

5'6" and 172 lbs. I don't see him holding up for long against our defense! Hell, he's smaller than all of our DBs, if he was to ever make it past the D-line or LBs, he'd get killed!!
