🏀 McNeese hires Will Wade (Day Two: Announces five game suspension.)

What they don't know is how long he might be suspended.

I assumed this was a joke but is it?

Let's look at this for what it really is; Wade's attempt to placate the NCAA on the length of his upcoming "official" suspension.
You do an extreme amount of due diligence and hire a guy who has to be suspended out of the gate?
"Due diligence" with whom? To me, it's only logical to assume that "research" was an open line between Lake Charles and Baton Rouge. Are the folks at McNeese going to the best source? Literally, a co-defendant in this case.

Is Wade still getting paid by LSU? I wouldn't be surprised if he's not paying McNeese to coach, a sort of halfway house to serve out his time. Freeze ran to Liberty proclaiming his rededication, but Wade looks like he's decided to put in his time doing public service at a methadone clinic.

I can't say yes or no if he's still getting paid from LSU. I heavily lean no.

I do know after his suspension his contract was revised with a clause about termination and his agreement with that move if LSU or the NCAA discovered Level I or II violations.

I also know he was terminated for cause.

I would lean with a hard no as well. LSU more than likely had a clause in his contract that would prohibit payment if he was fired for cause. There may have been a severance package but I do not know that for sure either.
